Received my 55ST60 this morning and I've been staring at this TV all day. My eyes need rest now. LOVE the picture quality improvement over a calibrated 55UT50. Home Theater setting is quite good out of the gate. I simply changed the contrast from 100 to 78. ST60 does not have that "soft" image UT50 has. It is definitely sharper all around. I am surprised how accurate the colors look with this pre-set setting. I can't wait to get this set properly calibrated. Out of the gate, skin tone is already quite accurate. It is fun trying to "break in" this TV by watching real content. I'll run the slides tonight when I sleep. I also tried CNET's settings in Cinema mode. It's nice, but I still prefer the Home Theater presets.

There is still buzzing, but less noticeable than the UT50. It is now a none-issue. Fingers crossed that the buzzing does not increase over time. I use an HTPC, and I definitely notice a slight lag when moving the mouse. I had similar experience with the UT50 so take my impression with a grain of salt. I don't think its any worse than the UT50. I don't game so I don't care about input lag.

Well i have been doing my research on this tv pretty much all week and i thanks to this site and especially this thread i will be returning my LG 47LM6200 back to Sams tomorrow. Right after i will be going to Best Buy to get the TC-P50ST60 for 1320 with their 4year extended warranty which isnt bad since it covers burn in issues. This will be my first Plasma tv and my only real concern is the break in period. I keep reading about running slides to break it in. Where do you get these slides from, do you get them locally at an electronic store or online. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

If you want to use D-Nice's settings, I recommend that you do run the slides. Otherwise you don't have to.

If I were you, I wouldnt waste the money on the extended warranty. From what Ive heard, typically, if a plasma is going to fail, it will happen in the first year, in which youll still be covered by manufacturers warranty.

/co-sign. if anything, get a square trade warranty with a 30% off coupon. it'll end up probably being less than half of bb's warranty price.

Is the UT model the 2008 Plasma series? If so, I 46" U series plasma and noticed that the picture isn't as sharp as some of the LED/LCD TVs I've seen.

From what I've read so far the ST60 series is an excellent plasma for anyone looking to upgrade.

Hi Superman

How you have checked Ir?

After some time when watching channels with logo ,you have run slides?

Can you check some sport channels with permanent logo and sport result on screen and then run slides to check for IR?

Can you to leave your desktop from pc on screen for 15 or 30 min then you can run slides to see what will happen?

The review was very useful particularly maximum light output measurements , Seems there's not any increase in overall brightness compared with the previous model.
This is probably the reason that Panasonic did not disclose anything about the increased amount of brightness on 2013 sets.

There are some differences in that review just in test results, but Katzmaier has this tv at 5 stars, which is something I've never seen before. So much for his recommending readers to get an ST50 while they can. He measures mll a little higher, but with D-Nice, David McKenzie, and Chadb all getting well below his reading, I'd say he's possibly off, or didn't measure before doing a full break-in.

No, the first 100 hundred hours were slides. I have been watching the TV for about 50 to 70 hours (after the slides).

Sports (ESPN mainly) movies, gaming... everything and no IR.

I only mentioned the slides first, because I'm not sure if breaking the TV in that way is why I'm not experiencing IR.

Has it been confirmed that 48hz. and 96hz. ARE available for use with 3D?

David K. mentioned it wasn't in his review and I was very disappointed to hear that.

Also someone mentioned an issue with overscanning on the left and right side of the screen with 3D. Has that been worked out?

Wow, David K. wrote an absolutely glowing review of the ST60. 5 stars!

The review isn't as in depth as some but I like how he just cuts to the chase and pretty much says this TV is the balls!

I'm pretty sure this is the first 5 star rating any flat panel has ever received.

I mean jeez, that should have been an obvious thing to look for. No input lag either, I would have to say that review probably isn't very good if he can't find a basic setting in the TV menu.

You should comment on the review and let David know. His head would probably explode because his only minor gripe with the set would turn out to be a non-issue. I've never seen him write such a positive review on a TV. Possibly the venerable Kuro, but no others.

I would let him know but I am waiting on a definitive confirmation that the 48/96hz modes are available for 3D before I do so.

What is your fascination with slides? If you can't see IR in regular content, why go and look for something you can't see? After about 300 hrs, I haved left my HTPC screen on for 3 hrs straight on my GT50 and had no IR. I don't see the ST60 being any different.
