Prices won't come down that low until at least early 2014.

Thank you!!! What kind of drop can we expect off MSRP this year? Couple hundred? $3800ish?

With what I ahve been hearing I dont expect much if any as far as MSRP drop. This is being marketed as an exclusive premium limited product. You may see "deals" but most will be unmadvertised...Thi is just my humble opinion and anything is possible, I just dont see the typical "deals" with the ZT unless they are trying to move inventory or something like that.....

Best Buy has exclusive rights until (reportedly) August. The process of producing the ZT's single sheet of glass limits the speed of production. So, given the limited supply and the low number of distributors at the outset I don't think this model will follow the typical price track. Sure it'll be less expensive in January of 2014 but I don't think you'll ever see the 65" go for $2,500.

Because of more limited supply, delayed releasing, and being a premium, some don't believe the ZT60 will ever drop very much (compared to a VT60). For all we know, it might be very hard to even locate one come later in the year. If demand is fairly high, the price will stay closer to sticker.

We subscribe to the same news letter. Whether artificially created or not -- the limited run of what some are already calling the best tv ever made will keep prices high imo. However, consider that the 60" Elite retailed for $6500. Yes, there were discounts because there were many Elites at play but to get a display of the alleged caliber of the ZT for abut what the 151 was at after discounting is a deal imo.

Nah. I'll still wait for OLED. Don't think the improvements will be huge. The kuro trashing in that review is hilarious though. At least i can finally stop worrying if my kuro breaks. Didn't think it would reach 500m black levels.

Right but most are assuming a ZT70 would be coming out in 2014.

Probably not a good assumption on their part and the insider has given no hint there will be one in 2014. Given how these are getting special booklets, engineer signatures, etc. and with Panasonic plasmas coming close to the end, I would be rather surprised if there is a ZT70.

If you resist, the Kuro will end up having to keep you satisfied through at least 2017 in all likelihood. wink.gif And to think, 10 years used to be an average run for a TV.

Ha. Well i don't feel like spending extra money for 5" when the TV i have is already good. The PQ still wows me when i turn it on. The ZT60 is better it seems, but not so much so that it's worth selling my perfectly functional kuro. But, if i was to move and have an extra room for a TV, the ZT60 would be already pre ordered i think. smile.gif

Or if the kuro breaks. But yeah, i'll think i'll be satisfied till 4K OLED.

You on the other hand, upgrading from 50" to a 65" kuro like display your mind is going to be blown!

Panasonic R&D may be moving away from plasma but (officially) they will continue making plasmas indefinitely. However, the super high-end models don't appear just every year. Given the expense involved in producing these, so if Panasonic does make plasmas in 2014 it's possible the lineup may top out at the VT. Or maybe once they get a production line in place they will crank out ZTs until the demand drops.

ZT looked better to me, though I guess I didn't see them side-by-side.

I don't recommend [lacing an order this way though, as it requires the orders to be manually tracked by the store and increases the possibility that your order can slip through the cracks. A solution is being worked out to allow an actual order to be placed in advance of inventory being available, but it may be a week or so before that is possible. Also, either method requires full payment upfront. The only stores that allow partial deposits are Magnolia Design Center locations. Keep an eye on the thread and I'm sure someone will post as soon as they are available to purchase. You shouldn't have too much trouble getting your hands on one.

Update...MHT systems will start to allow orders to be placed on ZT in the next day or two. This will be limited to a few hundred orders in each size until inventory actually shows up. This is in order to make sure that initial shipments are not overwhelmed. Full upfront payment will be required though. Also, while the TV is still setting 6/9, inventory should start showing up in warehouses mid-to-late May.

Just a side note. MDC & stand-alone stores can already take pre-orders. Also, they do not require full payment upfront. So if you have one near you, that is probably your best shot. They will both receive their inventory at approximately the same time.

The Design Centers are in Best Buy stores as well. Use the below link to find out what is near you. It shows both stores. Also, just a warning, there are only 32 MAV/MDC stores so most of you will only see MHT stores.

To answer the other question. 60" & 65" will be released at the same time.
