June 9th is the date that the ZT's are officially on the planogram in MHT stores. Initial inventory though will be showing up within approximately a week for both MHT and MDC. There will not be a staggered release between the two store types.

Thanks Speakerphile. So to your knowledge, no ZTs will be delivered to customers in May.

Initial inventory should arrive within a week or so. They will be available to customers as soon as they arrive in local warehouses.

Why is there no info on results coming out of the shootout yet? Have a ZT60 scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Is it true that the VT turned out to be better? I didn't like the look of the F8500 compared to the VT60 in the local MHT store so ruled that out, but was waiting for the ZT60.

Should I change it to a VT60? If not, is it worth trying to negotiate the ZT60 down from MSRP?

Results usually take a week or so to get posted.....There are plenty of threads\posts where people give thier thoughts on the shootout though....If you feel the ZT60 is best for you, then there is nothing wrong with that. The ZT, VT and F8500 were all excellent choices this year..

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that David Katzmaier- Cnet, received the results of the winner first last year, but not the numbers.

I know this was not brought up. Simple observation. No one in the country has ZT's in there warehouse today, correct ? Correct. With this said the unit at the shootout could NOT have been a true production panel ( Not to mention they probably got there ZT earlier last week when no one in the country had them either. ), correct? I think the answer is correct. No one sits on inventory for weeks, no one, why would you ? With this said, a "full" production US unit has not been tested yet.........

True, but I would not expect different results as the Shootout version and UK version measured about the same...and even David Kat's version was nearly the same as the VT60 I heard.

I think that we shouldn't presume too much - for all we know the sample at the shootout was taken from a stream of production headed to warehouses anyway - its existence in retailer warehouses is not a determinant factor we really should rely only on people w/ specific knowledge of the actual samples that were tested before speculating.

People in AVS want facts right ? I just stated a "Simple observation". I also stated "I think the answer is correct".

Either way it will be an excellent set. Will it be worth the cost I guess is the question.

You are right, I guess I just wanted to talk / type wink.gif Results will probably be about the same. I guess I just wanted to put some out out there for the best TV ever made, maybe next year I quess !

---Between the F8500, VT60, and ZT60 we have some amazing sets, I consider them close enough to the Kuro to call them tied, but nothing to say we have a new ultimate panel that no one else has, or will have for some time.

The unit at the shootout was a production model. It was one of the first 72 completed at the assembly plant in Mexico. You comments about "sitting on inventory" is flawed and completely wrong when it comes to how Panasonic manufacturers products in their assembly plants. You are more than welcome to verify my comments with your contact(s) at Panasonic.

Went to the Best Buy in San Diego and they had the new VT up high on a wall with other sets. Absolutely could not view the set properly and the people in the department knew very little about the set at all even though they had it there for awhile. It was a terrible waste of time for me. I was told by a dealer I know back East that the little shops like his wouldn't be getting them until August. Not sure if waiting for the ZT is the best way to go or get the VT now.

Are all of the US ZT60s being manufactured in Mexico? Was this "batch" of 72 unique for one reason or another?

It's up on the wall no higher than the TV's at the shootout and they are angled down. No need to be so dramatic about the viewing conditions. They could be much, MUCH worse.

12% were used to measure reference white light output (what you call peak light output)..

Ignoring price, would anyone pick the VT60 over the ZT60 for any reason? Got a call that the ZT60 is getting delivered tomorrow afternoon, which is sooner than I expected. Might change it if VT a better option. The VT60 looks much better than the F8500 in out of the box settings at the local MHT when I wen tto look at it ("Movie" default for F8500 and "THX Cinema" on the VT60). That's why I went ahead and preordered the ZT.

There is a better filter on the ZT which will help with ambient light, besides that not really sure that I ahve seen much "bonus" to the ZT...

I have a ZT on order, but the low reference light output has me concerned. Basically maxed out at 30fl for ISF Day and ISF Night. What was Panasonic thinking?

Agreed ...even for my dark room viewing 30fl is a bit too low. I get the feeling Panasonic had to do this to get better MLLs.

DNice made a comment on this in the other thread, 30ftL is worrisome I am sure to some, but its really only ~5ftL away from what the VT50 was set at......Also, this was the IFC mode, there may be other modes that go higher, but if you want your set pro calibrated, you would probably see the same results since in all likelyhood they would use the IFC modes...

Best Buy has the worst viewing conditions possible. Well, I guess if they displayed their TVs outdoors it would be worse. I feel badly for Joe Consumer who won't have a fighting chance to make an informed decision.
