It does eliminate eye strain as well as make the letterbox bars appear darker though, so we are happy.YMMV

edit: although the costco's white one is more of a pure looking white and could be 6500k but you'd have to measure it. Also it has all the other colors like the original phillips tv's and then some.

Using LED's for bias lighting works OK as long as you're not watching 3D using active glasses. The Sylvannia LED strips from Costco flicker horribly when viewed through active 3D glasses. Way worse than 48Hz flicker.

Arenaman,
Wonderful pics, thank you for sharing
The pics from the first look HD channel look very clear
Judi Dench's facial lines never been that clear and good.
I see the sharpness and the clear look of a LED TV on this TV with the richness colors and contrast of a plasma.
If I see these pics online I would have never guessed it is a plasma TV. Wonderful.

Love when a Tv is that good with out of box settings, that gives indication of how better it can get with further tweaking. So are breaking it in?

I actually have all the movies in uncompressed rips and play them back with Plex set to automatically change to source refresh rate so it switches between 24Hz and 60Hz when necessary. They are all stored on a NAS and served up to all my TV's using plex media server

Hi Halimali, I had something similar to these years ago. They work best when your tv is in a fixed position, rather close to the wall. My panel was wall mounted and commonly extended out and angled to accommodate people sitting on a wraparound sofa, so they just didn't work well for us. If you have your tv positioned close and parallel to the wall, the lights provide a very cool effect. If the tv is more than a foot or two away from the wall or angled at all, the lights can become a distraction and rather annoying. We don't have them anymore, but kids love them and they are fun to have on when your having a party : )

Look into a HTPC, XBMC and the Boblight plug-in. Hardware kits are available for the lighting: Adalight. How to: Adalight Learning System. Enjoy the trip!
