Ijmart, please share the link with us. I'm personally tired of the non useful posts made everyday by some members who dont own this TV. I can see when Floridaman was expressing his opinion and experience about the VT60 someone jumped to accuse him of being inaccurate and misleading while that person himself has tried several times to deviate this thread from its main purpose. I think that is his sole goal.

As of June 2013:
2,712 Bluray movies
1,593 DVD movies
356 bluray+DVD series

Thanks to F8500 I see many first time plasma owners in this thread. That itself says a lot about the potential of this TV and the plasma technology. I feel Samsung should keep producing plasmas for some more time. With F8500 Samsung is moving in the right direction. Making another version next year with even better PQ would be fantastic

I have been following this thread from the beginning and personally debating myself on the F8500 and ZT, I believe with my conditions in my living room that the F8500 fits the conditions and I therefore have purchased my first plasma and am waiting for its delievery. Since following this thread however, I found it a bit concerning of the buzzing that some have and others do not have, so I did a simple google search and found this article about plasma buzzing in the FAQs and I was curious what the plasma buzz source experts thought of this article stating that being elevated above sea level a certain difference would be the difference maker in the ones who have or don't have it?

there is a very little 'wheel' on top of the popup cam. push it backwards (away from you) and will aim camera downwards. have it 'on' while doing this and you will see on tv where its aiming!

Nothing need be done and thanks! Now feel free to report those non-owners that latch on to that thread for no other purpose than to start the flame wars.

I guess we thought it was Dave, but it's always being sidetracked by the usual suspects. I think it makes sense to clearly state 'owner's thread'. This way we minimize and hopefully eliminate the flame wars and typical comments 'I have every right to post where I want'. The trouble makers can be easily reported in an owner's thread. wink.gif

biggrin.gif with nearly 8000 posts here i thought it might be good to narrow the scope directly with (mostly) owners thread!

Zoyd,

Any thoughts why some people would see the "optimizing" on 1104 while others would not - even though they had upgraded to 1103 already?

my guess is that it's just reapplying the same logic update that 1103 did. When samsung sent out logic board updates for the D series the process was a little buggy (some would update and some wouldn't) so maybe now they are overcompensating and updating even though a user may have already had the update.

Have you already installed your F8500 high on the wall? I would have thought this would be a very bad idea considering the F8500's filter which darkens the panel if your to high or to low? At first I was thinking you could just tilt it down but if your camera needs adjusting then I'm thinking its not tilted?

Thanks ljmart, I've brought this up multiple times due to non-owners who definitely have no intention of buying one rather just come here to blow their personal preference horn or just come here to be confrontational.. To bad we couldn't just modify this thread to become a owners thread with all the info posted here..

i was concerned about that with so many posts here, but figured what the heck! maybe a narrower scope may help others looking for quick info. or something... !

I got an optimizing too for 1104, but only for the camera as I recall.

What do you think about a vertical viewing angle? Looks like it pretty poor.

more of a casual gamer(by skill level) but i do game a fair bit and have for years. i didn't really notice it with games, i noticed it when moving my cursor around while using my PC. but, i'm sure with really sensitive games putting into PC mode is crucial.

in PC mode, it acts similar to my old samsung plasma(b530) which was good enough.

i use a 4way HDMI splitter to send the signal to 3 display(f8500, projector, and screen in the bathroom) and since i had an extra i hooked up a second input to the TV and set it up as the PC input. then programmed my harmony to select that input for xbox and ps3, and the other input for HTPC, TV, DVD, etc.

a bit of a pita, but a useable work-around for me. in PC mode it's pretty average, not great, but not terrible either.

the only TV's i've seen that were worse were the old RPTV's

with that being said, it's for good purpose! i took my 10 million candle power spotlight and aimed it at the tv to see what would happen. from straight on it washes out the part of the picture it hits directly, but if i put it on the ground and aim it up, or above the tv and aim down, it's almost like it's not even there! the biggest thing i notice is the glare/reflection off the bezel, the screen itself holds black amazingly well under those conditions.

But let's keep things in perspective. From a normal viewing distance the vertical angel will be a non-issue.

I would consider myself a pretty big and competitive gamer (I don't do tournaments or anything like that), and I don't really notice the input lag at all. While playing an average FPS, I might attribute 5 out of 1000 deaths to "hmm, I seemed to get that information late", but that could be lag in general. Overall my gaming experience has been great.

I have the 51' version.

While most of us gamers who own the set (myself included) aren't terribly bothered by the lag on this set, we'd be remiss if we didn't tell you that there are those out there who consider the lag to be atrocious. Some people went so far as to say it is unusable for games. While the amount of lag inherent in the set is objective (it's just a number, 60ms I believe), what you consider to be acceptable is purely subjective. What I can say is that since using this tv, my online competitive kill/death ratio has not suffered.
