Well my dealer is bringing a third set on Wednesday. They have been great during the entire process but I'm not sure what I'll do if the third set is a dud. This is getting ridiculous. It would be one thing if I was being picky, but these are major flaws (stuck green pixel on first set... Second seems to have major electrical issues... Now randomly ticking and emitting a chemical odor to go with the flashing I posted earlier). This has been a nightmare purchase.

I love the LG. I sit about 8' - 8 1/2' from the screen so the 55" is probably a better size for me for gaming. I'm not sure what it was on the F8500 but I felt some lag during first person shooters on my ps4 even when I switched it to PC mode. There was definitely something going on but I didn't keep it long enough to dig into it. Like everyone else has said the contrast is amazing.

I found an open box at bestbuy for the LG. Turns out they received the box with a hole in the box but the screen was in mint condition. I was a little scared when I read about the motion judder issues with the LG but the employees let me test it in the store with my ps4 and it wasn't too bad for me at all at least on that particular set. Due to it being marked down as an open box and a 10% off open box sets I ended up taking it home for about 2500 after tax. It was definitely worth searching their site on available open box items.

(Consider the 65" OLED model coming out? Big chuck of change, though reports it can be had for $6,2500. What did you pay for the LG EC9300; Best Buy had it down to $2,999 for a while, now back to $3,499.)

I installed two low profile fans in that area powered by one f8500 USB port and a splitter. Very quiet and effective.

Just tried and it helped quite a bit. I'm just getting used to what's adjustable via the user menus and don't want to mess with the already calibrated settings. Is there a way to view the E-manual other than on the display itself?

I have the E-Manual in pdf format. I got it from Samsung's support site.

if you get one of these can you just start watching it right out of the box without slides etc if you keep it at full screen?

I am not sure I want to mess around with slides for 100 hours, I have a 2 year old in the house and that would not go over well with the war department, LOL

thoughts?

I have dish HD, and blu-ray I can watch and very very rarley watch anything non HD

Some of us will put a movie on a usb drive (ex: Pacific Rim) and have it set to loop when we are not at home to put hours on it. Get a colorful movie in a 1:85 aspect ratio and let her rip. With other content, fill the screen in if it make you feel better. You wouldnt be the first cautious person.

Personally I just throw the screen wipe on for when i go to bed. It should work the pixels evenly.

Do many of you have a horizontal band in the middle of your screen? I'm hoping I can get mine replaced with one that doesn't have one but I heard it was an issue early on. Do many of you new purchasers have it?

Then it sounds like I have good chances of a replacement not having it then. If you google F8500 horizontal band you could see people talking about it. But from what I gather more people were talking about it when these first came out. The one I just got was manufactured in February 2014 and it has it.

After reading about all the issues with this display (loud buzzing, white flash/ghosting, black optimizer, lousy speakers, banding, heat, etc), I'm seriously considering canceling my order for the PN64F8500.

Displays are like 100% cotton t-shirts. Always buy a size larger than you think you'll need, as they tend to shrink over time.

Good luck finding another display that doesn't have a thread full of people complaining about a variety of issues with it.

I received a 64" today with 2 very noticeable stuck pixels. Can be seen from 10ft back. 1 in the top left and 1 in the top center of the screen. What a PIA to have to remove it from the stand and pack it back up all nice and pretty in the box.

I didn't notice any banding. I wasn't expecting great speakers. The best thing to do with the Samsung's and the internal speakers are to put it in standard for sound and then you can adjust the equalizer all the way up to give it some power.

No complaints about buzzing. You can hear it if you put your head to the back of the TV but that's about it. It's a plasma, I wasn't expecting total silence in a dead silent room and a muted TV. So no buzzing issue here.

I have noticed every time I exited Netflix the TV sound stopped working and had to power it off and on again.

More people come on a forum to complain about a product than to tell you how great it is. You won't hear about the drones of happy F8500 owners who are sitting at home right now enjoying their tv's like no other tv that they've ever owned. I'm one of them. Watching World Series now on my 8500. The picture is breathtaking, and has improved in color and blacks with over 4500 hours on it now. The color is still so strong on the display, I have since tapered back to 45 (used to have it on 50).

Eric, I thought you had a VT60 or ZT60. What happened to the Panny?

Sorry to hear about the two pixels. Maybe the flipper will unstick them?
