Hey everybody!

I'm pretty new to this whole plasma deal, had a Sony 34" crt for about 10 years. I just bought my Panasonic 50" S60 and I used it about 3 or 4 hours last night messing around with the settings a little bit and watching movies/tv, playing games. I was wondering if its too late to do the slides? Again, I have about 3-4 hours total of tv usage on this. I was reading this thread for a bit, maybe for the first 15 pages, is there anything new I need to do for the slides on the s60 that came up later in this thread? Sorry for all the questions! I just want the best picture possible, even though it looks great already!

Thank you! smile.gif So there would be no problems if I have this set running for 100 hours continuously? No problems with overheating or something?

You can run that set all week. The product is made to display images or as we call it motion picture. Have fun. I am breaking in my S64.

Currently running the slides on my tv, but I am noticing a flicker when the slides change, especially from the white/gray slides. Is this normal?

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply, I also have a concern where there is a yellow vertical line on the right hand side of my tv, really noticeable on the white/gray slides. Is this normal?

does anyone get flashing green pixels in certain areas when doing the scrolling bar? Ive done the white slide and its not there but the scrolling excites them as the white bar passes through. doesnt happen all the time, just on certain passes.

The line on the very edge of the screen is normal, just how the pixels work. Check the other side and you'll have another one, probably blue.

When should I be concerned enough to have the panel replaced? Is it going to possibly get worse?

Unknown. Keep an eye on it and let us know. If you get near the expiration of your return period and its still there I would return it.

I've noticed something like this...I'd say typical, possibly phosphor-trail related.

I purchased my 65VT60 from best buy during the summer. I use it mainly for cable TV dramas and sports, and for streaming. I used the CNET settings until October 15 when I had best buy come out and do the calibration that was included in the price I paid ("free" because of my silver status which comes with such a large purchase). I liked the picture before, and think that it is substantially improved by the best buy calibration. I am clearly no expert, but I am quite satisfied with the job done by our local best buy person David Wynn in Ithaca New York. Also zero fan noise or other problems. And I still love my Panasonic 50PX60 which I purchased from BB many years ago. Never a problem and great picture. smile.gif

Wrong. At the very edge of the screen like that, on a solid grey/white screen, that's perfectly normal. Like bern43 said, there's probably a similar bar on the left edge as well. It's because of how the pixels are arranged on a plasma if you look close enough:

So the thin yellow bar on the right edge means your eyes are combining the green and red columns to see yellow, while across the rest of the screen your eyes also have a blue column to blend in and perceive white/grey.

Disney WOW disc pixel flipper is great for this. The Scrolling bar only does full white + black.

I'll chime in and say that I see the yellow line on the right and a purpleish line on the right on the whitesh slides. Looks fine on normal content.

I figured you wouldnt normally be able to see it. But if it gets worse that may not be the case.

It is normal, but I'm not sure if owners who watch white or light gray screens while looking at the extreme edge of the last column of pixels on each edge of the screen are normal. wink.gif

Ok, just as a data point, I checked mine, and it appears that the right side has a very SLIGHT green tint, and the left side has a very SLIGHT magenta tint. This is with about 44 hours of nothing but D-nice slides running. I will check again after 100 hours + D-nice settings to see if there is any difference
