if we would get more detail...I already did the update, but I think most will be about the smart tv features...apps etc....the update says it is for system stabilization which seems to mean system software stabilization. Either way I wouldn't know if video processing was changed due to just having watched the tv for 4 days.

I don't have a roof antenna and instead use the Terk HDTVa with my Roamio. Check the link below for different antenna options should you ever decide to cut the cord. I finally did so a little over a year ago and haven't looked back since then.

Can someone please confirm how many "clicks" their VTmakes when turning on. I have 3, but my other Panny plasma only clicks twice. I just got it and want to make sure I dont have some weird power supply problem.

Mine sounded like 3 clicks. Two right on top of each other then another, happened very quickly using the tv's power button.

I remember my Kuro having great motion performance as well as knowing most plasmas are known for motion clarity, so I don't know if my eyes not liking what it sees is caused by an anomaly on the screen or my eyes just not used to following a fast moving image on a TV. My eyes wince when it happens, it's weird.

That will get better with more time but was still there on my set at 950 hrs. Chad B did my vt60 and I didn't want to do the last update because it might change something. Well yesturday I updated due to not being able to use the apps because of it. After the update the motion was much better, more like my vt50 was but the image seemed to be a little softer. Not as soft as my vt50 though. At times I felt that the image on the vt60 was over processed even with the darbie turned off. I use a darbie set at 25 on hd for a little extra detail. Still looks great just a little softer.

The update number is 2.873

I am just saying that I never noticed motion issues with my vt50 and before the last update on the vt60 I was not totally happy with the motion. It is a lot better now. Just my honest opinion. Remember sets vary.

1. I realized that I wanted my next tv to be a 65 like yours.

2. I had trouble getting used to what reminded me of a slight soap opera look to the 60 series. You describe the 60 as a "more dimensional" look. (By the way, that is an outstanding, spot on description). For me though, I prefer the flatter-less dimensional, more film-like look of the ST50 (especially on old tv shows).

Someone else posted that it was more fluid in movement. I noticed this too. For me, this also was a minus. I know that a flat look and 24 fps slightly blurry/juddery film is about blu-ray movies, but I like my tv shows to have this film-like look too even though tv shows are 60hz which translates into 30 fps and not 24fps.

I associate the extra fluid look and the dimensional roundness to people and objects and the accompanying depth to something far from film and reminiscent of a slight soap opera look. Soap opera, I know has to do with motion interpolation, with the accompanying 3d look and overly fluid movement. But the ST60 for different reasons, had this look (to a much lesser degree of course).

The only way I could get my ST50 to even remotely approach that look of the ST60 was to turn motion smoothing interpolation on to the weak setting. But to my dismay, turning off all motion smoothing and NR on the ST60 still, to me, had the 60 looking like it had motion smoothing going on a weak setting. I sometimes wonder if Panasonic said, "Were going to make sure this tv is always super clear and super smooth - even with all enhancements turned off."

So for me, the ST50 looked "better" in a very different way I guess than most people want and I feel that it gives me more options as to how I want it to look. I can turn on motion smoothing and crank up the sharpness if I want, and even better, leave it all off and not get that look.
AS far I know VT-50 does not handle 24Fps properly!!Is it improve in VT-60?

A couple question on the Menu for the VT60, specifically the Picture area:

* In each of the preset Modes, there's an option to return settings to Factory Defaults. Is this ALL settings across ALL picture Modes or just for the Mode that you're in?
* The eHelp section for Picture alludes to a Pro Settings and says you can go Menu, Picture, Pro settings. Pro settings doesn't appear as a choice for me. Do you know why?

Thanks, Scott

Try the Disney WOW disc using the pixel flipper with contrast at 100 - worked rather well for me.

When you guys are doing the firmware update are you connecting the TV directly to the internet via ethernet (or possibly wireless) or are you downloading the update from Panasonic onto a USB flash drive and connecting that to the TV?

This is worrisome and my initial enthusiasm is now somewhat tempered as well after noticing a couple of issues after two days:

- The right side of the set has a pink tint on the screen running horizontally from top to bottom and mostly visible in the center. Now this is only visible on the dark grey slide right before the black one and never on any real tv content. I had a flashback to a couple of years ago when some of the samsung plasmas had the pink mist issue. Does anyone have anything like this on their set and should I be worried?

- Even though my 65VT60 is an October 2013 build- I can hear the fan noise people have been talking about. I never heard it the first day and only when I came home last night which by then the slides had been playing a little over 24 hours did I finally hear it. I sit about 9.5 feet back. Maybe it kicked on when the set started heating up since it had been left on for a while by then? I immediately turned the set to live tv content and started inching the tv volume up and right about when I got to +8 I couldn't hear it anymore. It really won't bother in the long run as long as it it doesn't get any louder. Since this isn't the normal buzzing that some people have with their sets my assumption is that the fan noise should stay consistent. Please correct me if otherwise. I know there are owners here that have lived with this issue since the early part of the year.

Call Panasonic on the fan noise. I did. They brought out a licensed technician from their network and he fixed it. Panasonic has a specific part that they use and it works. I have no more noise and mine was "very" apparent.

I'm running the slides now and have a slight pink band on the right side from top to bottom on the gray and white ones. It's about 4-5 inches wide. I notice it more if the room is dark (nighttime). Overall the picture uniformity is better than the two ST50s I had briefly last year. Both of them had pink areas which were clearly visible on the gray and white slides. While visible on the slides I did not notice them during content - and I really looked. I watched Game of Thrones, Band of Brothers, and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, all of which had snow scenes, and could not see any pink. I'm hoping for the same with the 60VT60.

Chere's was built in October, so it should already have the fix you received.

Mine is an October build and is has been on since Friday afternoon. I haven't heard any sounds from the fan yet.

Now when I put on my original PS3, that thing has a fan like jet airplane. Anyone here have an original PS3? Curious if that is like what you were hearing on your VT60's. If it was, that would have been terrible but can't imagine it would have been that bad.

I had the same pink band on my old ST50 which never manifested in real content but this one is different. It isn't a band. It's just there on the right side of the screen and protrudes out more towards the center. Again no big deal if it stays like that as I can only clearly see it in the dark grey slide and not even very well on the white one. It' isn't even really deep- just a light pink shade. I'm hoping it's just a minor uneven screen coating and nothing more.

Now when I put on my original PS3, that thing has a fan like jet airplane. Anyone here have an original PS3? Curious if that is like what you were hearing on your VT60's. If it was, that would have been terrible but can't imagine it would have been that bad.

I live in an apartment facing outside street traffic where the noise insulation isn't very good. Add that to the noise coming out of my heater/ ac, fridge and other ambient noise- this is at the bottom of the heap compared. I only heard it last night when I was in the living room knee deep in the latest Tom Wood novel when the stars aligned and everything went quiet all of a sudden. Again no big deal if it stays the same and that it doesn't get worse. I haven't seen or heard anyone complaining since I started following this thread that their fan noise level had changed for the worse so I'm not too worried.

I'll keep an eye out on both these issues (pink hue and the fan noise) for the next 2 weeks and as long as I don't notice any changes- I'll be okay. I'm actually more worried about the PQ softness observed by merccrazy on his ISF calibrated display after the latest firmware update. The number one reason I upgraded to the VT60 from the ST50 as I mentioned before was because of the soft PQ it put out on 720p and 1080i OTA tv content and I don't look forward to going back to that. I'll hold off on the update until I hear more feedback from other users.

Well in my anecdotal experience all the people who say they do not have space, do have space they just are not willing to allocate it to speakers. In the end it almost always comes down to someone not liking the aesthetics. And as for costs I think this is a rarer reason but its an odd combo if you are dropping thousands on top tier TV and your budget is that tight. In the end you can do whatever you want in your place but don't expect much out of speakers that are small enough to fit in 2 inch bezels, especially on a device that was produced for the high end experience where many are expected to bring their own speakers.

Again no big deal if it stays like that as I can only clearly see it in the dark grey slide and not even very well on the white one. It' isn't even really deep- just a light pink shade. I'm hoping it's just a minor uneven screen coating and nothing more.

I have a very slight pink tint on the right side of the slide as well. It seems to be about 4-5 inches wide and runs from the top to bottom of the screen. I also have what appears to be dust nearly dead center in the screen that blocks about 1 pixel.

ETA: My ST30 had a pink and green blob in the beginning that was very noticeable, but after a few thousand hours of watching, it seems to have gone away. I confirmed last night with the slides.

Ethernet cable from TV to router. For me and based on my background, this is much preferred over wireless mostly in terms of a stable connection. With video, that's paramount.

So you dont see the pink band under normal content, and you don't hear the fans with normal listening volume.....what's to worry about?!?!

@ jconjason:

^^^^^ Not really worried at this point but mostly wanting to make sure that both issues don't get any worse over time. I figure I have about 28 days to make sure I don't see any changes and as long as I don't- I should be good. I know there's no perfect set out there and going for an exchange for these two minor things isn't something I want to do at this point . At the same time I want to make sure that I don't ignore it completely less it gets worse over time and I'm out of my return window.

Do you have any issues with your set at all?
