I saw that so I installed it on my iPhone 5s just for fun. I ordered a Lightning Digital AV Adapter for HDMI output to displays which should be arriving tomorrow and will be testing relative to professional equipment to see if the results are close enough to be of use. As I understand it the pattern output is 720p.

This is the first report of SOE I've heard with the motion smoother set to off. I see SOE easily with a setting of Mid and Strong, but don't notice it on Weak. I don't really notice any improvement in motion with it set to Weak either, so I just leave it set to off.

In that particular scene it's readily apparent.

Not so far. My kids have even been using the touchpen to have some fun, with no problems.

I just took my VT60 out of the box and started watching it. Is that ok?

Regarding motion at 96hz I do see what appears as subtle soap opera effect even with motion settings off on a variety of content. Motion at 60hz looks more natural to me, sometimes at least, even if there is some judder from the 3:2 pulldown. But, maybe I am just too used to judder. lol

96hz also suffers from quite a bit of false contouring although I've grown to not let it bother me as much. You'll see this as red and green outlines around objects in certain motion. It can be distracting once you see it.

Hello from a new user! I'm sorry for not going thru all the 400 pages... Long story short - can Apple bluetooth keyboard be used with VT60 or not? I have tried with older "white" and more recent aluminum keyboard and both of them seem not to Pair with the TV no matter what :/

I had an Apple bluetooth keyboard that would not pair because it was already paired with another device. I then tried an unpaired new Apple keyboard and it paired right away. If you unpair your keyboard with the device it was paired with it should pair with your TV.

Hmm, that's interesting! Both of my keyboards have been paired with many different computers before... I'm tempted to go out and get a new one just for the TV if it would work like you say, but it kind of sounds unbelievable it only would work with brand new one. I'll see if I can make a deal with Apple reseller to give me a new keyboard to test. Anyone else having similar experiences?

I am sorry and apologize to you all that I have not been able to post any posts herein for the last 24 hours or so due to my being a participant in the great Atlanta snowjam all day yesterday. Took me 11.5 hours to make it my 27 miles to home. I promise to post some posts herein (that you all are free, as always, to ignore) as soon as possible, regardless of if I have anything worthwhile to write or not. I do read that you all have picked up a new batch of crazies while I was gone, so maybe you all didn't miss me too much.

Shall I post about the best furniture on which to rest my remote, or about which settings are best for watching Olympic curling on an SD channel, or how to prove my tv is twice as KURO as a KURO, or which poster is best to pick on today, or talk about how if I turn up the volume to 100 it gets too loud?

I have a Nexus 5 which should be supported. Found my MHL adapter and plugged everything in but it seems like the phone doesn't support the adapter since nothing was recognized. I guess I need a direct micro sd to HDMI cable. Can anyone confirm this, if they have been successful getting their phone hooked up to the TV with a direct cable.

I wish I was able to get miracast working but have yet to successfully get that to work.

IR is temporary.

How about you try playing the game, and if after you normal gaming sessions you get IR, and if you are still scared, then you can get a cheap LCD for gaming.

IR is not BURN-IN.

I heard that the Governor is complaining that the weather service only predicted 2" which caused all the trouble. I wonder what a quick 2.5" would do to the San Francisco Bay Area where I live, or to the Los Angeles basin. eek.gif

I have no interest in hockey but from what I keep hearing is the ice is not really that white in real life, especially after it has been skated on.

I've watched and played hockey my whole life indoors and out and this LED shows it more realistically (as if you were watching in person) than the VT...which shows it more as dirty gray white...which would match up with some pond ice but not NHL ice.

As for the people talking about the use of FI, I set mine at min and very rarely notice the SO effect and usually when I do it is present in the source as well (so far it always has). The motion on this tv looks notably better with it on min as apposed to off. Maximum and the mid setting look horrible though and are a reminder of why people loathe the setting so much by default. In moderation (min) it can help get close in appearance to the motion of a dlp.

That is probably more a source issue with how it is being recorded though, probably done as most people use leds and it is made for home not cinemas. Just guessing though, I don't play or watch sports and don't have and don't intend to ever have a tv signal go to my tv or projector (just dvd, blu-ray, some gaming and the occasional stream).

I strongly recommend getting a smaller lcd for gaming with low input lag. It is just nice to have piece of mind for the long game sessions to not have to worry about IR or burn in. Also because of the low fov used in console games a smaller screen I find to also be preferable. Now if your using a pc where you can usually select your fov (unless your playing an infinity Ward we have the middle fingers pointed squarely at pc gamers Call of Duty [though Tryarch do a good pc port]) then larger is fine.

Yes I completely agree as well, not only for the lower input lag but also for being able to play long sessions without worries. Here is a comprehensive list of all sub 1 frame monitors to choose from. http://forums.shoryuken.com/discussion/145141/sub-1-frame-hdtv-monitor-input-lag-database. I personally can not play on anything above 1 frame, 16ms, anything below 8 is golden. This only really matters if you are playing at a high competitive level though. It took my years to finally make the switch from crt to a lcd monitor due to the input lag.

I just placed an order at ********** for a 65VT60 at what was probably the last possible minute in anticipation of my tax return. Would've like to do it a month earlier when Amazon had better prices on them but c'est la vie. I'll be upgrading from a Sony KDL-52W4100 that I purchased way back in 2008. That TV has served me well to this day and still has what I consider to be great PQ, but I couldn't miss out on the chance to get a Panny plasma before they're all gone. Arguably the best 1080p TV ever made. I'm hoping this thing will last me a good 10 years or so until 4K content is actually widespread enough to warrant getting a reasonably-priced 4K set.

You would be fine. Keep in mind that I purely game on these displays. Viewing regular content should wash off any retention alot quicker. LCD is such a downgrade that its really not worth it imo. Even with the worst retention that I got I couldnt really see it while watching movies. During gaming when you are panning the camera or on a lighter screen it will show up more. All of the HUD logos I had pretty much disappeared after viewing other content for a few months. Some displays dont even seem to get much retention from what I read. The VT that I just got a few days ago, Ive been gaming heavily on and havent even seen any retention yet. On the 2012 models I saw it almost immediately. If you were going to purely game then you would want a store warranty like the one from best buy that covers image retention and burn in. Just to be safe. I dont think youll have anything to worry about with 4-5 hours though.
