Just for reference I paid $1400 for my 55" VT60 and $1600 for my 60" VT60 + Geek Squad warranty within the last 2 years.

Ive been tinkering with the latest version of hcfr and my i1d3 probe on my 65vt60 plasma.

Ive had this TV for three years now, and I had previously calibrated it with relatively good results and little frustration.

Lately however, and I assume its simply to do with age and hours of usage (which it gets a hammering I must admit) but I have noticed a few distinct differences from previous calibrations:

1. A large spike in Blue at 50ire
2. Red at 10ire needs to be lowered to -36 using 10point white balance
3. Contrast can not be any higher than 54 before green dithering is introduced on the 10ire window on avshd disc. (Using pro1 picture mode) and only getting around 28flt light output at 100ire test window where I used to be able to set contrast to 68 with 34flt light output and never noticed any dithering in lower ire windows.

Any thoughts as to why this would be happening?

Also curious with the SM white balance adjustments mentioned a few posts ago. If changing cinema picture mode rgb values in SM how does this then impact custom or pro1/2 picture modes?

I own a 55" VT60 aged 5500 hours and I have calibrated many times, the last one 2 weeks ago...

1) how large the blue spike is in terms of percentage AFTER your adjustments to 2P white balance?

2) how much strong will be 10p adjustments depend from your starting point, if your 2P white balance is tracking well. Could you post your WB tracking just after 2P adjustments?

3) dithering inside 10 IRE window pattern depends from contrast, brightness, 10p gamma adjustment at 10 IRE, G-CUT, and from the right or wrong combination of all of them.

After having tried the method proposed some pages ago by SM adjustment I can tell it does not behave like it was described, also because GAIN and CUT user comands are an offset of SM commands, no more, no less. So I don't see any valid reason to touch them.

Guys,
I can obtain a 50vt60 for only 150 in good condition except for one problem, when turned on after 15 minutes the picture does something weird which you can see in the included picture, it apparently especially shows on skin, but when turning panel luminance to high it disappears, any ideas what causes this? any fix? is this a panel problem or will it disappear when changing the board or something like that? If anyone has an answer please respond asap because I have to be quick in deciding whether to buy it or not

Okay so I've bought the tv anyways, it's in pristine condition, only 3800 hours. I have only tested for a very short time yet but what I noticed that in the beginning the pictures looks perfect just like the advertisement said, but then after a short while problems start showing up, also at luminance high just a bit less pronounced, the thing I've noticed most up till now is sparkling red pixels on black backgrounds, from up far blacks just seem to have a red tint but from close you see the pixels sparkling, any ideas what could be the problem?

I have a 65VT60 (USA) and would like feedback from VT60 owners on whether the built-in Amazon Instant Video app works OK for streaming Amazon Prime Video movies? Thinking about switching my movie streaming service from Netflix to Amazon. The built-in Netflix app has worked fine for me over the past 3 yrs. Thanks.

Don't use a big word when a more diminutive one would suffice.

You can always sign-up for 30-days free to test. I personally use the Fire TV Stick. Have possibly once tried on my VT60 and do not remember a bad experience if that helps. My internet is 50/25.

Panasonic TC-P60VT60 Plasma • Oppo BDP-103 Blu-ray Player • Apple TV 4 • Yamaha RX‑A1050 AVR • Paradigm Cinema 110 Speaker System

Free sick 55VT60 to any AVS peeps in the Boston area, just PM me.
It has a single red LED blink code that repeats and if you power cycle it enough it does come on and then run fine until the next power cycle.

Why is it free? Squaretrade replaced it with another set for me already and this might be a good project for someone.

And they didn't take the TV as salvage?

I just picked up a 55VT60 for $100. The seller said it had the 7 blinking lights. I figured I would take a chance on fixing it. I got it home and plugged it in and was surprised to see a picture. I have had the tv running youtube for 3 hours straight. It has 4100 hours on it and no burn in. What am I missing here? And what can be the problem with this set?

Ok. I got the 7 blinking red light issue today. I unplugged it and plugged it back and was able to watch the tv again. Does anyone have an idea of what this is symptomatic with? I assume if a board were bad, it just wouldn't work. Thanks.

roccol,

It probably is a board. See here for a little more information.

Your best bet is to find a TV service tech that is willing to take on the job of determining the bad board and replacing it without putting you in a financial bind.

My neighbor is an electrical engineer and he has fixed several boards for me in the past. Thanks for the link.

I;m going to test the boards, but will replace the 3 usual suspect boards in this instance. I guess the question is what causes these boards to fail so much? Is there anything that can be done to preserve these boards(sc, sd, su)?

Could be the Y Sustain board. But depends of the model. You need a manual. But Google is your friend. You can problem fix it.

I've got 5 Panasonic plasma. The oldest is a 500U that I purchased in 2005. All are still going strong. Luck of the draw.

Anyone else get a firmware update for their TV (2.885)? It installed on mine today. I don't see it on Panasonic's website.
