I did not notice the current retention until a couple hundred hours ago. Before that I rarely saw anything, now the OPPO opening screen shows up for several minutes, unless there is a wide variation of scene brightness images, which seem to wipe it clean, or smooth it into a mush.

I would say I've always noticed it, at least on my 65", but whether it has gotten better/worse I can't say. When I bought the 65" I was well aware of the issue and looked for it from day 1. When I bought my 55" a few months earlier, which was a demo in a friends electronics store, I was completely unaware of the IR issue. The 55" displayed evidence of IR/minor Burn In when I started looking for it.

On my 65vt60 it was about 5300 hours and the up and down game was over. I still get retention but will go away very quick.

I have a 65VT50, 65VT60, LG 55EF9500 (gave to my daughter), and a 55E6P. If this is a contest, the OLEDs win due to black level, UHD, and HDR. Uniformity on the 2016's is much better than the 2015's and undetectable while watching content. Image retention is not an issue and burn in has only been seen on store demo units. Near black visibility is also fixed for the most part - LG OLEDs - how to enhance near black detail

When the time comes, unless a better technology comes along, I'll be replacing my plasmas with OLEDs.

What's the recommended way to attack image burn-in/image retention? I'm a political junkie and watched a lot of CNN on primary nights as well as on the debate nights, but I don't watch it that much honestly. The CNN logo is apparently burnt in. It wasn't noticeable until now because I just setup an HTPC and it's only noticeable on a white screen. Windows has a lot of white in file folder screens and that's when I noticed in the bottom right that red mark.

I'm surprised it's that bad because it's not like I watch the whole day, like during the last debate I came home at 6pm and watched til 11pm. I can't imagine I'm putting my TV through more CNN than most sports fans will put their TVs through ESPN.

I would add that the 55" panels seem to be generally more uniform than the 65" in the near black realm. I have had trouble finding a 65" 2016 model that is completely free of uniformity anomalies, but my current G6 is the closest of any OLED yet (after owning an 55EA9800, a 65EF9500, and an E6 plus several G6s for a short period).

My ZT has a channel logo (5) on the right side that noticeable with white and red screens. Never seems to go away. Fades but that about it.

What's the consensus regarding the Oppo 103D with an ISF calibrated 65VT60? I may pull the trigger on one but unsure if I really need the Darbee. I will have the set calibrated later next week and would like to have one for one of the inputs....currently using a Sony BDP-1700.

I hear many good things about the Oppo BD players, never used one, would like to get the most out of this set.

Have you got any concerns with your existing player? The picture is only likely to improve if there are known issues with it. I like Darbee , but it's a preference thing.

The Oppo is a Universal player. Is SACD, good DVD, various file format playback a requirement? Do you value the build quality? Multi zone needed?

If buying new - have you considered waiting for the UHD player, to future proof?

I have the Oppo 93, think it is great, flawless for years, but will update to Oppo UHD player eventually.

I don't have any issues with the Sony, I do have alot of reg DVD's.....I don't know if I even need the Oppo as I have a Marantz SA 8004 for my CD, SACD, and DAC duties. I like the fact I could possibly implement the Darbee to my streaming or cable feed....again, I haven't seen or used it so I don't know if I would benefit.....it's just that I hear wonderful things about it.

I have considered the 203, but I don't have a 4K set and likely won't have one for a couple years.

Threads gone a bit cold it seems...

Thought I'd chime in with my 2 cents about IR on my set. Have noticed it since I got the set new. Can't really say if it's improved or worsened, but would tend to say it's gotten worse. Only takes half an hour worth of retro gaming to get IR from HUD elements.

On thing, I always warm the set up for 5-10 mins before gaming or watching sports. Either by running the scrolling bar or just watching a FTA channel with a feint logo. Seems to reduce the IR by a lot.

Actually thought the set had got some burn-in after watching one FTA channel for 5-15 hours per week for 10+ weeks. After I stopped watching the offending channel and also ran the scrolling bar for about 20 hours all up (basically every time the set was one but not being viewed I switched scrolling bar on), the channel logo finally was gone.

Also, for anyone into retro gaming on old hardware (Genesis, SNES, Sega Saturn, etc) you should get your hands on the newly-created OSSC. It's an awesome piece of Finnish homebrew that makes the old consoles look amazing on modern displays.

I have a 65VT60 that I haven't used in about a year. Upgraded to a projector. Sure I lost some image quality, but 110" screen trumps 65" better picture.

I have nothing to do with the plasma, but it destroys a 65" Samsung 4k LED I have in the bedroom.

Debating on selling it, but don't know if I can part with the picture (even though its not even plugged into a power socket lol)

Easy. Get rid of the Samsung and keep the Panny. I have a 65VT60 also. Its so good I am waiting till next year to get an OLED.

Been Reading through post after post and searching all over, has anyone had any issues with ALL HDMI inputs all of the sudden not working on their TC-P65VT60 ?? USB input works fine and all apps via wifi but for some reason no signal detected on any HDMI inputs ?? Tried different HDMI cables, different cable/dvd/roku boxes and nothing ? Is it possible a setting my 9 yr old could have accidentally hit in any of the menus ?

You could try a factory reset. Not that uncommon of a failure. Usually the main board needs to be replaced. Hope you get it working.

Thanks for the reply, looks like I'll search around for the proper way to do the reset and give it a whirl. Hopefully the 5yr extended warranty I purchased will pay off if its a board issue if the reset don't do the job??
