What stopped me on the VT60 was when I was trying to remove the right left side (viewed from rear) vertical rail, I encountered black tape on the rail which looked like it went down to the panel. At that point I was unsure what the purpose of the tape was and if I could effectively put it back once I got the rail off. (if they had just mounted the bottom rail on top of the side rails - it would have been a piece of cake)

SC board went out again. An easy fix once the board is repaired. I was just looking at the vertical ribbon cables and they are harder to get to than the horizontal.

Thanks for the reply.

I called a couple of local repair stores. One said it was 90% or more the panel, and therefore not cost-effective repair. The other said bring it in, $40 diagnostic charge, couldn't estimate chances of fixing it.

Not sure what I'll do; may just try to sell it as is, and see what I can get.

Got one!

I just purchased a mint 60VT60 off craigslist for cheap. I am absolutely blown away by the PQ. It came with 3 pair of 3d glasses but I need batteries which should arrive by Thursday. Can't wait to scour this thread for advice on calibration settings.

I just made a post in the plasma forum the other day about a pink area on white background, to which someone replied that I should adjust VSUS to high. I did this, and it's significantly better. However, I'm a bit confused about some selections under VSUS in the service menu and I want to make sure I did it 100% correctly.

After getting into the VSUS menu, I select "OK" to test VSUS, and then I'm given the option to switch back and forth between "high" and "low." After selecting "high," I see there's is another option "3,4 TEST/CONF SELECT." When I hit 3, it looks absolutely perfect, but when I hit 4, I can still see a bit of pink. So, I just hit 3, then select "OK" to write and then powered down the TV. However, when I go back into the VSUS menu, although it's still on "high," it looks the same way it did when selecting 4, instead of 3. Could someone please explain this to me? Thank you.

Also, while I was in there, I went into the menu to see how many hours I have on the TV, but I wasn't able to return to the previous menu without powering down the TV. The return or exit key didn't work and I didn't want to hit random buttons and screw something up. What is the proper way to return to the previous menu?

FWIW, I played with many picture settings over the first 3 weeks, and ultimately settled on THX Cinema. I haven't touched any settings in the past 4 yrs; always looks amazing.

Congrats!

My advice after scouring calibration settings is that you'll find as many different combinations of settings as there are people on here; just go thru and configure what looks best TO YOU.
Good luck, Scott

Sparkles with Black Background or Scenes?

Just a question as I am not sure if I am seeing dither and now just noticing this or something else is showing up.

Basically what is happening is on my VT65 with menus like Netflix user profile the black background now is getting little white sparkles on some pixels. Seems sort of random. I also notice it in some movie sections where it gets black.

Now I am not 100% sure if it is just I am sitting closer than before and noticing this or really this is some issue that is coming forward?

Hopefully the description helps.
