Really want a TV bigger then 60 inch but that huge price difference between 60 to 65 is killing me ($900 bucks cmon!). I've been reading and reading and the Panasonic gets a lot of good reviews. But from a money perspective the PN64E7000 is $1899 vs TC-P65ST60 at $2,299.00
Does anyone know how the E7000 compares to the new ST60 if take pricing into consideration will the Samsung be much cheaper in the coming months ? Would the ST60 be worth the additional 300-400 bucks ?

Pricing aside, the ST60 has a less reflective screen than the E7000, and is a better (in my opinion) looking set, as far as the design goes. The picture quality on the Panasonic has been receiving some very good reviews. I'd spend the extra dough for the Panasonic.

In this case I would agree and choose the ST60, as it is getting very good reviews and matches if not exceeds some of the performance of last years flagship VT50......I WOULD however go and see these sets in person to see which set you like the best, afterall we wont ahve to deal with the set if you dont like the picture or something else with it.....

I did go to BB and HHgreg yesterday. I watched all the screens and can't help but notice GT50 and ST60 looks dull compared to the some of the other tvs. I asked the sales guy and he said all the TVs are default settings so maybe that's it? The LED TV's where very bright compared to the plasma. I am no expert but a normal person would walk into these stores and pass on the plasma. Also noticed the Magnolia area had less lighting maybe to bring out the plasmas more, dunno. The bezel and look of panasonic was nice I will give them that, the TV was bit hot from the back but I think my current panny is like that also. Maybe you guys can clue me in to what to look for ?

The LED's are bright and because of that you kind of believe the picture is so great when you are in the store. I can speak to this because I tried 6 LED TV's in my home. Finally settled for a plasma and realized how not so great the LED picture really is. Now when I go into a store and see the LED TV's I say to myself how did I ever think that looked good even when it is shining overly bright in the store.

I currently have a pn60e7000 and the picture is truly amazing. I can only imagine it in a 64". It truly has a cinema theater like picture. I am having it swapped out under a warranty claim to a Panasonic 60GT50 since BB had no more e7000's left. So will be able to compare the Panny picture to the Sammy picture better next week although owning the e7000 right now I can tell you if you want to save yourself some money you cannot go wrong with this TV.

I have only seen the 50" version of the ST60 so far and it's a superb looking TV. The E7000 is a nice set but won't outperform the ST60 in any area aside from maybe slightly better image processing. The Samsung won't get any cheaper either since it's an already-discontinued 2012 model with no 2013 replacement. I'd take the ST60 -- it's basically on par with the 2012 flagship VT50, which I own, and it's an excellent TV. The ST60 just came so price is bound to come down over the coming months, it just depends on if you're willing to wait.

If you can control the lighting and want to save some money look at the Panasonic 65S60 for around $1400.

or get the 65s64 from Costco or sam's club, as long as you don't want 3d.

This is primarily a Panasonic fanboy site. I have owned only Samsungs because I didn't like anything about Panasonic when I/we looked at them. They have always been a fine TV with no problems and a great picture. One reason I bought them is because I thought Panasonic was overpriced hype. After 5 years and a few TV's (we have 3 in the house currently) I'm still satisfied with Samsung!

Or IF you can find one, those will be limited in release at least to start..I agree if price is a factor and you dont care about 3D or "real" smart apps than it would be a good choice as long as the room as good light\glare control.....

Would 64E7000 at $1599 shipped be a good price or you guys still think I should hold out for 65ST60 ?

65ST60 Lowest price found $2199.99
64E7000 Lowest Price found $1799.99
Difference: $400.00
At $600 difference would the E7000 be worth of buy ? Just trying to determine at what price would I seriously consider E7000 over ST60

Im not sure if anyone can give you a value on it, that s a personal choice. The ST60 has improved the 3D performance form the 2012 models from early reports, so if 3D is mportant it may be good to have the newest set. Im not saying the E7000 is not good, but for me personally I think Id want the newest TV as that will get supported longer. The ST60 is getting compared to the VT50 which was last eyars flagship, so it may be worth a little extra. Not to mention you may be able to work a deal for the ST60 still, so I would call or go to wherever you want to buy it and see if theyll pricematch OR go lower than their posted pricing.....

above all go and see these two sets in person if you can, this way youll have a better idea of what to expect when you bring the set home.

Damn, $1599 for a shipped 64E7000 is a great deal! 2 things though. Is it new in box and it it returnable withou paying a restock fee or return shipping. These can ruin a great deal!

I know I have gone back and forth with you on this since I personally owned both TV's in the 60" version. So here goes. If the e7000 is returnable with free return shipping then I would get and try it out. I do not know your financial situation but for me that is a huge price difference to be saving.

Does the ST60 have a better picture, yeah it does. Would I say hugely different, no. The e7000 has more of a cinema look to the picture while I feel like the ST60 has more of a digital, maybe LED quality. The blacks are obviously better on the ST60. If you look through the ST60 thread I had posted some picture on 1 of the last pages of some black screen shots.

Physically looking at both TV's, the Samsung just looks a lot more premium but that really shouldn't matter much in the decision of a TV.

The ST60 is new, it is creating a lot of buzz. It is affordable by many. If the 60" was selling for over $2000 I am sure the excitement would not be so high. At $1400-$1500 for this in a 60" makes it affordable to many with an amazing pq. the Samsung is a year old and talk has faded on it. When new TV's come out next year the ST60 will just be a memory from the past as well.

Another way to look at it and I am just forming an opinion on how someone might feel. If you go with the e7000 you will keep questioning yourself if you should have bought the ST60. The more people post they bought the TV and how great it is the more and more you might regret your decision.

If you go and purchase the ST60, I do not think you will question your decision because everyone is talking about the ST60 and you would not even have time to think about the e7000.

Again, major factor here is money. If you will be in debt for the extra $600 and really cannot afford it then I can only say be wise with your money. If money is no problem, get the ST60 and be done with torturing yourself. But I will say the $1599 for the 64e7000 is a sweet deal. But either way you are getting a 65" TV so it is not like you are getting something bigger at a less price. If we were comparing the 64e7000 at $1599 to a 60" ST around the same price, I would go for the size.

I think I have exhausted all my thoughts on this but if you can think of any other questions I will be glad to
answer them. So final decision today is buy the ST60 if money is no issue. Tomorrow I might have another opionion so please make your decision soon! I changed my mind like 3x just in the time I wrote this post!

Sorry for any mistypes, don't have time to re-read.

Thanks for the info its much appreciated. I have plenty of money to buy the VT if I wanted, I am just cheap with my Money (thanks a lot Clark Howard and Dave Ramsey) plus we have a 2nd kid on the way. I'll probably wait to see if 65ST60 comes down in price in the coming months.
Thanks again and bust of luck to you!

If you have plenty of money then buy the ST60 and stop giving yourself grey hairs! Maybe contact the owner of Clevlend Plasma who posts here all the time and maybe he can hook you up on the price of the 65ST60. He seems like a good guy.

Don't wait to long because every day gone is another day you will not be watching 1 of these 2 great TV's : )

Good luck on the kid!

I've had both- may have even posted in here earlier. The 7000 is good the 60 is great. If you want the best picture quality for the money the 60 is better. I think a lot better. I've done similar in the past where I wanted to save money and went the other route and regretted it. I think if you can spend the extra, and it sounds like you can get the 60.

Just do it ( you won't regret it)

Oh, and but the way I know what it is like to obsess over a TV. My TV search started in the beginning of February and since then the ST60 is the 9th TV I have had in my home and hopefully the last. It feels like I have a huge burden off my shoulders now.

My 2.5 year old kid would see a new TV come to the house and started to yell at me to leave the TVs alone. He would be like another one, then say Mama, da-da is crazy!

He learned to parrot my wife and then came up with some on his own. We would pull up to Best Buy and before we even got out of the car would start screaming , no more TV's da-da, you crazy, I don't want another TV!!!!

LOL your comments truly made my day. I thought I was the only crazy obsessive one here. Been reading and searching daily think I read the cnet article like 3 times now. When my wife would goes to Babies R Us, I’d tell her I am going to look at TV’s at Best Buy next door. She’d always mumble “We don’t need a TV” I’d take my 2 year old with me and she loves looking at all the TVs. I drag them all to HHgreg this weekend to test out some 3D and my wife thought I was crazy when the sales guys couldn’t get a single one to work and tried to give us dirty glasses that he wiped on his shirt (Talk about closing the sell!, LMAO). I’ll try to hit up some retailers to see if they’d negotiate just wish Amazon would price theirs lower and we are game.

You don't happen to live in NC, do you? Be funny if we go to the same BB. I think Cisco might have an office around here if I am not mistaken.....
