Hi all -- I've been lurking a while here but this is my first post. I'm hoping to garner some opinions from the knowledgeable folks.
Long story short, my friend offered to by my two-year old Panasonic TC-P50S30. I'm giving him a deal (too good) because he's a friend and he's getting married soon, etc.
I view this as an opportunity to step up to a 60" relatively on the cheap (ie: less than $1000 cost of set).
In reality, 60" is probably too big for my living room, but who ever bought a bigger TV and then wished it was smaller?
Anyway, I've had great luck with Panasonics. Started with a TC-P42S2, then stepped up to the aforementioned S30.
Naturally, I'd love to get another Panny, but it doesn't appear to be an option at my size and price range.
(Side note: My local Sam's has an open box TC-P60U54 for less than $700, but it has a scratch on the screen and there are no others. SMH).
At any rate, I've essentially been able to narrow my options to three main choices and a wild card:
- Samsung PN60F5300A: $949
- Samsung PN59D550: $987
- Used Samsung UN60ES6100 LED: $999
- Used Panasonic TC-P55ST30: $875
I suppose I should also mention that Sam's has the LG PA6500 60" for $799, which seems a great deal, but I don't know much about LG.
I'm including the 55" just in case, but I don't feel that a jump from 50" to 55" would be worth the trouble.
Anyway, reviews on all these are generally positive and a little mixed.
I sit about 8' from my TV, more if I decide to mount it to the wall. I watch sports, movies and do some gaming. Pretty well-rounded when it comes to that.
I don't care about 3D, but I'm not opposed to having it (the D550 is the only option there).
Any thoughts? Suggestions? Do all of these choices suck?
Thanks for your help.
