when going from cable box to TV via HDMI then TV to receiver via optical audio out I lose digital signal.
TV = 60st60

Straight from cable box to receiver = digital sound. What gives?

Thanks in advance

If your AVR is not HDMI ready, then why not just run the HDMI to the TV from the cable box for video and then assign the optical output from the cable box directly to the designated AVR input for your audio, instead of looping it through from the TV?
