I just bought a Samsung PN51F5300, the picture looked great at first, then I noticed what seems like static lines over everything, like I'm watching though a dirty window. They don't move with the picture, they are just there.

I ran some color slides and it made it much easier to see, there are faint vertical lines running down the screen. Mostly noticeable on white, grey and green.

This isn't normal, right? I'm new to plasma, so I have no idea. I tried to take a picture, but they don't show up.

I own the 60" version and I do not have that issue. Do they appear on all the viewing inputs/devices or just certain sources?

It's on all inputs. Cable, through HDMI. PS3 through HDMI. XBOX through component and color slides from a USB drive. It's the type of thing that once you see it, you can't Un see it.

I have the same issue on my PS(N)60E6500 from 2012, They are faint, but they are there, changing the contrast helped quite a bit for me. It's nog just making it higher or lower which helps, but to find a sweet spot, for me that was 92/100.

I messed with the contrast for awhile, along with other settings, setting on pretty much every level and they are still there, so I put in for an exchange. They are sending a new one.

This will be the 3rd plasma in a month. First I bought a PN51E530 that had splotches on the right side of the screen. I got a refund for that and bought this one with this problem. Hopefully 3rd time is a charm.

That doesn't sound normal, take photos and get it checked by Samsung so it's on paper if anything worse develops from it

The replacement is much better. At first I could still notice a couple very faint vertical lines, but no where near as bad as the first one, which had about 20 lines across the screen and a very prominent one right down the middle. Now after about 1000 hours on the set I don't notice anything like that.

Yeah I was curious if it would fade after break in.
Good to hear yours is doing better Bmvc1.
Mine now is like when u watch a video camera feed on a movie where it has horizontal lines.
but its faint. Almost if you you sat to close to a lcd and could see the screen threw the picture. And its buzzing louder now.
I notice the lines more on light areas to. Video games its bad.(game mode on or off tried different calibration s as well)
Movies look great tho.
I'm use to Panasonic plasmas so I didn't know if I was just being picky.wife said best it looks like your watching an old projection tv has tha
t screen over it
So idk if I should swap it our get the lg 50pn6500.

Whats your guys thoughts?
