for me, the LCD's have disadvantages in picture quality, and plasmas have disadvantages in physical qualities(size, weight, power consumption, etc)
the only one that MIGHT be picture quality related is brightness. they are bright enough for reference viewing, but we don't always want reference.
most of the 'issues' posted above are what goes wrong with DEFECTIVE plasmas. those are the most common problems, things you should look out for while on warranty. they aren't really the things you have to live with if you want plasma.
