Thanks for offering your opinion on the pixel -- I'm serious as I've been physically sick about it in that I don't like to waste but then again I do think I should get a product that passes inspection when I'm laying out really hard earned cash i.e. that TV represents a certain number of hours of my life invested earning the money for it.

Appreciate the additional info, pro calibration makes a huge difference imo Hopefully you come to a decision on your dilemma soon smile.gif

I think the Samsung stand is ugly--there's no accounting for taste--and while I'm not a fan of the chrome edge on the Panasonic I do like the stand itself. I was considering the Samsung for a bit until I realized the stand is something like 58" wide. So unless you have a TV stand that wide the Panasonic is going to give you more options. As far as finding stands, my favorites are BDi and Standout Designs.

Yes, HDMI 2 -- the middle HDMI port is ARC. Make sure Viera Links setting is on in your TV. Make sure HDMI control is on in your pre/pro. Cycle off and on once set up. It should give you audio. Go to apps and watch a YouTube video. It should switch to TV Source and give audio. It should always give you audio no matter the source.

You want to replace the manufacturer's integrated one-piece-of-aluminum stand with an aftermarket tube steel stand?

Every product ever made has a limited production run. Based on what Panasonic says, production of the no-gap panel was bottlenecked because there are a limited number of autoclaves large enough to handle this process. To what degree this limits production is anyone's guess but I think it's fair to say, especially given the gold card treatment our Euro friends are getting, that Panasonic's marketing campaign is really playing up the exclusivity angle. I wouldn't mind being wrong but I suspect supply will outpace demand in the next few months.

That line is often true, but it's also been used countless times by people offering a low-value product. I know this is the flagship model and because of the price probably also a lower value TV, but I'm not sure I want to adopt the same attitude you'd see sometimes among some of the "Kuro elite".

I don't think the ZT will be a runaway big seller, limited production or not. Besides us and a few average Joe's out there that read CNET and want the " best TV this year", there just will not be a lot of people lined up to buy a $3.5K to $4K plasma. I am not sure what the Panasonic insider really meant, but I wouldn't be too surprised if there was some price movement on some items in their plasma line......and that doesn't necessarily mean the ZT's. Remember the VT's are out there too.

Had my 65" ZT60 delivered today. Beautiful TV. Its #1385.

My main room is pretty bright on a sunny day (like today). Reflections on the glass are no worse than the 55" Sammy LED its replacing - perhaps a little better. Totally watchable, but some of that comes to placement and size of the reflections due to my windows. Luckily I live in Seattle so its mostly overcast. 8)

I turned pretty much all the various motion and enhancement settings off. Some of the picture settings are a bit dark, but I am watching Blurays with THX Cinema and I can see everything fine. Looks very natural. THX Bright made it look too contrasty with odd colors in the faces. EBU felt too dark for day viewing in here, I'll try it again tonight. The image generally looks a lot more natural than my Samsung. Oh and its great to have all the picture settings available with Game Mode on (which I will most of the time).

The thing I am really noticing compared to my local dimming Samsung is that there's no bloom around the light to dark transitions. I tried the Dark Black Level and its really nice, but I'll leave it on Light until I break it in. Light makes the blacks a little greyish, but again no worse than my old TV.

Oh, and for some reason 24fps caused bad lag on the old Sammy (like out of sync with voice lag) which is totally gone with this TV.

Onto some gaming tests and then I'll watch my first 3D at home a bit later on.

Hope you can get one before the rains come. smile.gif Lived on Portland for 5 years and it seems once the rains come it's impossible to get from car to house without boxed et al getting wet.

Seattle - I went into the Magnolia Design Center in the U-District on Saturday to check on availability, they had just unloaded their initial 4 sets out back. Only three had been taken.

Went back on Sunday and bought mine. They said their next restock is mid-June.

Did some multiplayer gaming earlier - the reduced lag on the ZT is SO much better compared to the Samsung. Both were in Game Mode with all the processing turned off, really noticeable difference. The ZT has all the display settings available in Game Mode so I can still use THX Cinema, whereas the Sammy only had Standard then I had to manually tweak it.

Tried some 3D gaming out, not really a fan. The games I played (Gran Turismo 5 & Killzone 3) were low res and lower framerate in 3D, and most of the 3d-ness of it is the HUD floating above the screen - the depth into the screen was not very noticeable. Thought I had at least one 3D Bluray in my collection, but I haven't found one so far - guess I just bought all the 2D sets of everything.

Yup, both PS4 and Xbox One have native support for 3D and 4K content. Eventually, I may end up owning both consoles, but will start with the One because of Kinect. Can't wait for next iteration of Tiger Woods golf and play it on the ZT60!

Very nice set up there Walter White! Great idea to have day and night calibrations for the ZT60.
Ohhh by the way can't wait for the final season of Breaking Bad!

The old 50" Pioneer has been removed from the TV stand. HDMI and power cable resting neatly on top of the stand, so it should be a straight up plug-and-power affair once the TV is out of the box (assuming the TV takes a standard grounded power cable). A half dozen reference Blu-Ray discs are ready and waiting.

Delivery window: 4:30 to 6:30pm tomorrow but my building will only allow deliveries up until 5pm. It's noted clearly on my delivery that there are strict building delivery windows (and my appointment has already needed to be moved once because they tried to schedule outside my window) but this one will be a nail biter. Certificate of insurance requested and noted on my account, but hoping they filed all their paperwork with the building management. The joys of living in NYC.

Dying to take in the 65" display. Really happy the weather turns to crap this Fri/Sat. Gives me a great excuse to stay indoors and watch my old favorites all over again.

As long as they manage to get the TV into the elevator before the clock strikes 5pm... waiting... waiting...
