Thanks. I'm in complete awe of this TV. I haven't even touched the picture settings but the picture is so good and has so much depth it's like I can reach inside and pick up the different characters. I'm watching my favorite shows full screen: Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Mad Men, etc., episodes I've seen 2-3 times before and noticing details in shadows I never knew existed. Autoclaves kick ass.
Wow. That sucks but the writing was on the wall I guess. I'm glad I own the best plasma they ever made and one of the best ever made. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up another one if the prices drop dramamtically over time.
I keep seeing people say prices are going to drop on plasmas. I don't remember Kuro prices dropping. Given that the (arguably) best TV ever made will no longer be manufactured I'd think prices would go up, not down.
One reason I bought the ZT60 was I was pretty sure Panasonic was going to quit making Plasma TVs and I enjoyed the PQ of a great plasma vastly over an LCD.
As far as waiting for prices to drop, you could wait and get one of the last sets and it is defective and there are no others to replace it. Or you just miss out getting one all together!
I think the PQ of the ZT60 is outstanding!
Reliable and affordable OLEDs are still a few years away! I'm happy I bought a ZT60.
The Panasonic 3Ds are lighter in weight and shading plus the flicker is reduced; and they are rechargeable. On the minus side they are a bit fragile; we had to take advantage of the extended warranty we purchased because one cracked due to what I thought was acceptable pressure when cleaning the lens.
BB had them for $70, but they were 1/2 price the day we purchased them; which reduced the 2 year extended to $14.
Sorry you missed that "event"..... All Kuro's were discounted between 40-50% off. Pioneer still stands behind the warrantee as will Panasonic. These were not defective sets but rather brand new in the box gorgeous panels. I still marvel at the picture quality today. Xmas shopping season seems like the perfect time to liquidate. I'll pick one up as oled won't be this affordable for a few years and will need time to mature. Since many of the Pioneer engineers went to Panasonic after they shut down, I would expect the PQ to be similar to my Kuro.

When I got my 5020 the price had fallen from around $2700 in September to under $1700 by December due to Pioneer liquidating/moving out inventory. When someone exits the business they don't want the inventory on their books so its sold in blocks at lower prices. Granted there were people that literally bought 10-20 500m's (for example) from a retailer and then put them up on Ebay at crazy high prices. A key to lower prices in my opinion will be if Panasonic sells some inventory like Pioneer did with the 5020/6020 to a warehouse operation like Costco. When Costco started selling the Pioneers, the price really dropped and Best Buy was forced to match. My one regret to this day is that I didn't spend the extra $ for a 6020.
---That article did say, "When reached for comment, the company said that nothing had been decided." I bet plasma tech has 1-2 years left in them. However, no real improvements.
+1 - with no R&D by Panny anything significant is not happening and there is no reason for Samsung to use resources on their end since there is no competition so to speak (sorry LG owners).

Except OLED, which is much more expensive (and will be for several more years). Plasma has a place in the market as long as its significantly cheaper and has comparable PQ.
I know this has been brought up in past posts but I couldn't get a clear answer. My zt is past the initial break in period and I noticed the golf channel logo as well as the espn logo in the bottom right corner. Now the IR from the golf logo has almost disappeared but the espn logo is still there. I have ran that swipe creen thing for about 10 hrs and it's still present but faded mildly. This has been going on now for about 3 days. Is this permanent or shall it slowly fade. My guy at magnolia said it will go away but I am beginning to doubt him. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

I suggest running full screen content for a couple days with no logos. Something like an animated movie running on repeat.
