I have a 151FD Kuro which in the 4 years I have owned it I never heard the fans on that thing, never. I like that the buzzing on this panel is almost non-existent specially compared to my Kuro, so I traded the buzzing for the fan noise, lol.

BTW, this is on a 65" ZT.

I heard the fans on my 65" ZT but the noise is minimal, quieter than the PS3 (slim) even. If the noise becomes too bothersome it might be time to either get a home theater system or some acoustic treatments. smile.gif

My fans on my 60ZT60 are fairly quiet even after a few hours of slides and a movie. I do not run the TV all the time though and my DISH DVR is louder than the fans most of the time. My TV is about 1.5 feet from the wall and in a fairly hot room of my home. Coming from an LCD the plasma does produce quite a bit of heat. It seems there are more 60ZT60 out there as my TV was number 3308.

Curious if mounting the ZT60 would increase the fan noise because of reduced air circ because of close proximity to the wall. Anyone have their TV on a stand then mounted at a later date and noticed a significant difference in fan noise? Thoughts?

Well, I can hear the fans from 14 feet if there is no audio from my receiver. This was never the case with my 65V10. The noise level is not as bad as a PS3, for example, but will add to the low noise produced by my Directv dvr.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know how to shut off the main speakers of the ZT ? It is helpful to make using a soundbar easier ?
The problem is hitting mute also mutes the soundbar. I believe I read somewhere that a plug into the headphone jack is the way to go.
I just find this hard to believe. Any thoughts ?

I just reduce the volume to zero.

What camera should I buy to use Skype ? There is no information anywhere if the 2013 models require the Panasonic camera or not. Tried a Logitech and it is not even recognized as a USB device.

Jeff (AccuCal) will be calibrating mine. I'm in flyover country so I'm not sure if D-Nice even ventures here.

You're NA even if Canada does seem like a far off place to most of us. Only EU gets the card. It would've been nice to put something in the empty card slot -- like maybe a $20 bill. smile.gif

Congrats. And my, what a low number you have. As for the gold card, I think it's safe to say at this point it's Euro only.

FWIW - If you are a Best BUy Rewrds Silver member they offer free ISF - Certified calibration. They have all the appropriate gear, colorometers, etc and everything.

Definately going to consider it when I get my ZT (if I get one?!?!).

Cheers

I think you should consider any calibrators that are from this forum and who has a history with it's members here. You paid a fair coin to get that tv and you should get the best out of it with a professional calibration done by one of these guys here.

I know how you feel, I got mine yesterday! Also got the fancy book with an empty card slot....I can't find the operating instruction manual either, I just have an owners manual which does not really go into much, I am wondering if the OPI manual was left in the box which is now in the garbage or is it that the OPI is only accessed through the help button confused.gif

I tried every setting. I just know some dark movies you lose lot of detail with dark panel setting. Make me mad why this set cant be happy with one setting now. I thought thx cinema would be the best but its too dark where you lose background detail.

Maybe d-nice can give us some better settings idk. Because cnet settings for the vt dont do anything better on my set vs thx cinema
Yes, I found Blu-ray of Gangster Squad so dark, I had to watch it on THX Bright room while sitting in the dark. So darkly filmed movies you must raise the brightness of the ZT60.

I watched on the Kuro, so I would not be so quick to blame the VT60. wink.gif

I've read nothing but negative about best buy calibrations though. I'd rather pay the extra to get it properly calibrated

My ZT arrives today. Delivery scheduled for 2:30 to 4:30 EST - so if all goes according to plan, 1 hour and 34 minutes left at most.

I have most everything set up, and some of the other stuff, decorations and such for the theater, I should finish installing in the next few weeks.

So excited!

First thing I'm going to watch is Planet Earth - the entire series! biggrin.gif

Besides turning brightness and contrast down to 50% in my first 200 hours, any other tips I absolutely need to know before diving in?

Can I watch 3D yet or do I have to wait?

Can I use THX Cinema yet, as long as I turn down brightness and contrast and stick to 16:9 content?

My top 3 "wonderfully black level" Blu-Ray movies for ZT60:

1. The Dark Knight (Especially the chasing scene when The Joker tries to kill a SWAT truck, look at the amazing footage! Gorgeous!smile.gif

2. Sin City (The whole movie!)

3. Blade Runner (The whole movie!)

Dr Harford, I watched THX Cinema in my first 100 hrs. I stuck to HBO channels with 16x9 content and no logos! No ill effects. I have about 290 hrs on TV so far!
