Because it doesn't matter to me. I have one, and its working. If it breaks, it won't be the end.

At least there is still the Samsung option for plasma lovers. Not "all" is lost just yet.

On a side note the LG 55EA9800 OLED just took a price drop. For the first year of OLED and how good they are, it is a great price when that is considered. LG is supposed to keep this unit out for maybe 18 months, it is set in the lineup with the new models coming out in late fall, summer. So this 55" might have a REAL attractive price by the end of its cycle.

Understand but there has been much discussion about how many panels were made & I have never seen the answer to the question if the progressive number to "sequential #" was peculiar to the individual size (60" & 65"0). This might help answer the question?

Enjoy!

US based 60ZT prod #s start with "A", 65ZT prod #s start with "A", they were at 15,000 in October, and production stopped in Dec. I'm going to take a wild guess and say "about 20,000".

Now what?

Mine's a May build & the serial number also starts with a 3. I assumed the "A" referred to the North American market.

"Serial Number" and "Production Number" are (2) different numbers. Go with the lone "6-digit alpha numeric" designation on the silver sticker.

Thanks - we were just trying to fiqure out if the sequence number is for both sizes eg: # A01111 could be a 65ZT & A01112 could be a 60ZT - we know the first four digits of the serial # are the year (all 3's) and the next three are the day of the year eg: 225 is August 13, (Tue). serial # MK3225XXXX would be built on August 13, 2013

We wait for some one with a December build and a serial number of 3 (year) and 365 (day - 12/31) eg: MK3365XXXX and the question will be answered (Sequence No: A21134) - never to be asked again!

So I can hear the noise from six feet away when the sound is on mute should I get the fix done and risk the micro fracture?

Why ask someone else about your tolerance for the noise, and risk tolerance for breakage of "your" TV? How often do you watch TV on "mute"? Will the noise be bothersome? If so, and you get the fix, can you get a replacement if it breaks? Are there alternatives to the factory authorized repair in order to resolve the "issue"?

These are all questions best answered by you...grasshopper.

I was the one who asked the insider on the other forum what was the total number of 65ZT60s produced. He did not reply to my question which tells me that he did not want to give an accurate answer. Then others chimed in and someone said it must be about 20000, to which the insider replied "its more than that, but less than 50000", hence the 20000 to 50000 estimate that's been quoted. I have no doubt that the insider could tell us exactly how many were produced if he wanted to. Trust me, he has more than a clue...

Of course not. Just crank up that awesome audio system you have...never listen to muted voices.

There was a mildly distracting audible low hum (although well below the 50 decibel minimum threshold on my cheap radio shack sound meter) when I first turned on my display. So I got the fan fix from an "authorized tech" sent by panasonic, and then mounted it on the wall. Now there's virtually nothing audible, and in any case I'm not distracted or bothered,,,

My first post so go easy. I bought my Z in July when Best Buy first brought 'em out. My big mistake was letting them do the install. They put a Sonos sound system in with it. Problem #1 is often the sound is a tick ahead of the picture.

Bigger problem. Didn't surface until hockey season. When watching a hockey game and now basketball, and most of the screen is a white or very light surface, the picture first begins to darken, then flickers to a much brighter display, as if someone turned on a light. This goes on ad finitum. Anyone else have this issue??

Make sure CATS is off. This feature adjusts the screen brightness depending on the brightness of the room, hence the flickering.

Received my 2nd 65 inch ZT today... damaged. Was from Amazon warehouse deals listed as "Like New" but the screen had a large gouge on the front of it when we took the top box off. frown.gif First one I got was DOA/ loud buzzing, no pic. I now have a 3rd and final one on order. Please let this one be a winner.

I don't want to wear the tv unevenly and am worried that the black bars will cause uneven aging of the phosphors. Should I wait another 1-200 hours before really using the tv for everyday viewing with logos and letterbox content?

Being the King or paranoia I still watch the TV during break in. I run slides when not home and what it (while avoiding logos) and even watch 2.35:1 content. I probably average slides to viewing about 3:1 and will do this up to about 400 hours at which time I will get both VT60s calibrated. The beauty is my sprare VT60 is in the basement where I run slides for a day then leave set off, then slide for a day and so on, so that TV will have very even break in until I get it mounted on wall in 2 weeks. Just enjoy the TV right away you won;t hurt it if your avoid IR causing logos.

It's online, doesn't mean it's available. The website for weeks has been showing it. If you add to cart there's an error. If you click check stores, there's an error.

My local Best Buy had a 60ZT60 when the online store was sold out. The local salesman said the online store has its own warehouse inventory that does not include the inventory of the stores.

On the other hand, it's conceivable that stores can return excess inventory to a warehouse and become available for online sales, but this is my own speculation.

BTW, my local salesman was nice enough to check the serial number so I could get the latest production version he had in stock (day 303 = Oct 30), and he waived the $25 charge for them to include setup at time of delivery. (Too heavy for my wife and me to safely lift onto the stand!)

Not going to be able to bust it open and set it up until later tonight. Based on the first four of the serial number it's a June build (3170)

Question to the group-

Is anyone else having issues with the 'energy saving' or eco features?

I have an Xbox One plugged into the HDMI 2 slot, and an Apple TV plugged into the HDMI 1 slot, and I frequently recevied the 'no signal, will shut of in X message' (no signal), or the 'will shut off in X message' (no activity).

I have since turned off the message, and turned off all energy saving features - no signal, and no activity - but it seems to me, that if I'm watching a movie (ATV) or if I'm playing a game (X1), that the unit should be receiving a signal.

I have Comcast cable plugged into the HDMI 3 slot, and it has never given the shut off message...

So has anyone else been having energy saving issues?

I'd really like to use the auto off feature...but, because of the frequency of it happening with the X1, and ATV, it just became a pain in the rump...

"Activity", as far as the TV is concerned, may mean "interaction with the TV", as opposed to "active signal"...at least as far as I have noticed.

Ahhhh!! **light bulb over head**

So, if I'm watching movies or playing video games for longer than 4 hours - and not using remote - it would consider this no activity?

What's the thinking with that feature? Someone accidentally leaving on TV? Huh...

So, I'll shut off the 4 hour activity feature, and turn on the no signal feature...and see what happens...

Thanks!

Actually, you don't want to buy the exact same ones that came with the set because the frame is so thin they don't block off enough light from the periphery. Also, I'm not sure they're available to be bought separately from the TV. The ones you want (and that are much better) are these:
