For those interested, the Samsung SSG-5100GB 3D Active Glasses (amazon sells them: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BIP816Q/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ) they work just fine with the VT60. Four guys tried the Panasonic's supplied with the set, the rechargeable Panasonic glasses, and the Samsung SSG-5100GB. Unanimous decision was that the Samsung's were more comfortable, but Panasonics "blinders" made for a better 3D by blocking all ambient light. The 3D"ness" of each was fine.

Hi ZT owners --

Checking in as I own a set since 3 weeks now.

Overall, I have to say I am very happy with it. Best TV ever owned.

This is my first and ultimate plasma. I read tons (mean hundreds of posts) in various forums to 1) make sure this one a good choice 2) optimize the first hours.

Well, while the picture is already quite good compared to my previous LED/LCD, I think my usage of close captioning should stop for now until thing get better. I watch 95% of 16:9 content (if not I crop/resized on the source or using the ad-hoc menu on the TV). Looking at the screen on a pure white slide, looks like the area where subtitle are printed is slightly tinted in purple.

I used various sources (Netflix, DVD, Blu-Ray, HTPC) with various CC typo/size/color (most of them are bright white surrounded with black). The only thing I don't watch is regular TV (no cable / no dish).

I discovered this by simply loading a blu-ray where a scene was almost 100% white. Otherwise I didn't noticed it.

I ran Plxel Flipper from Disney Wow Blu-Ray for a few times (~1 hour this night, almost 2 x 4 hours today). Things are better for sure. but the panel is not completely uniform. Reminds me my old LCD with clouding lol (sort of). This time the clouding is on the center bottom of the screen.

Any advice to get thing better even if this will take time?

Thanks, I only have a PS1 and I haven't used it in years so I probably won't even hook it up to the ZT. I still will zoom out those annoying black bars because they are just that - annoying.

You mean that huge APPS apps button right in the middle of the remote, the one that is mentioned in the instruction manuals? How was I supposed to notice that?

THX modes and the calibration settings I find online seem to suit Blu-rays and content that is made to certain media standards. As a new ZT60 owner I would like to know what settings are better suited for video gaming (Xbox One/PS4) where the standards are different. Any help or links would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on what your goals are, as far as what your settings will be. You will also need to factor in the fact that every one's TV is different, in regards to brightness and color accuracy, etc. Settings on (2) TVs will not always produce the same picture. "Video game" settings, and desired effects have been covered in this thread. If not enough info here, check the "Panasonic Settings" thread, also on this forum.

I personally use THX bright mode, with normal mode (vs Warm 1 or Warm 2) and game mode on. I have found the colors to be excellent with good brightness. And also switching the HDMI type to graphic helped clear up the picture. Looks great!

So this tells me that I was given the wrong remote when I bought this open box tv. I thought it strange the main remote didn't have an apps button. Makes sense now.

Thanks, I'll try that out. I've been using THX bright room with default settings so far. It looks good. I want to explore different options.

Anyone else have any other suggestions?

Curious to know if anyone finds the small remote with the track pad really useful, and if so to do what? I sure don't... Thanks.

I suggest using whatever mode is most accurate. Unless you like overblown colors and crushed details, or artificial sharpening. And make sure the settings in your console are set correctly. Game mode didnt affect picture quality for me so have that on.

I really don't like the small remote at all. I understand what they are trying to do and the fact that it's Bluetooth or RF is nice but it's really not intuitively functional.

Does any one care to post or email their professional settings? I would love to see how it compares before deciding to get a pro cal?

THX Bright is what I use as well. Less washed out than THX Cinema, strangely opposite the case with regular content.

Thats exactly what I hate about TVs these days. Millions of settings in millions of different combinations. Man I'm going back to my Tube tv with only contrast and brightness. settings.... and my old cable box with a wire and the buttons. The one that if u put it on the adult channel gives you those squiggly lines. But if you just squint ur eyes you can make out something happening.

If you have a tablet or smartphone and wifi you can use the Panasonic app as a remote plus it has other features.

Nope, completely useless for me. I don't use this tv as a web browser and moving from app to app with the large remote isn't that cumbersome at all.
