Like mine was. Hand picked? Yea right...what a load of milarky.

Crippled? I saw your picture of your panel separation. It looks fine. I suggest you quit looking for problems enjoy what you have. How many hours have you spent actually watching real content on it? Hopefully more time than you have spent on this forum finding things to worry about. The guys here can really blow things out of proportion and make it seem like the entire product line is a fail. I personally come on to the site for a couple of months before and after buying a piece of equipment to get some tips on the features and firmware upgrades and stuff and then I sign off for several years. It's much better that way. My calibration will be done tomorrow or Monday and then after posting results I'm outta here till I need a new AVR or something.

If I recall correctly you were happy with the 60" ZT for your bedroom. You don't need a 65" in there. Or even a TV. A bedroom is supposed to be for sleeping and sex, not home theatre. But since you have it, enjoy it.

Good luck,

Mike

Whats the longest anyone has had to run the pixel flipper to get rid of IR? I was doing sound calibrations for a while last night (about four total hours) and a denon logo (which was NOT on the entire time by any means, maybe 50% at best) is still visible in the screen after 24 hours now of pixel flipper, screen wipe, and mixed content. It is most noticeable on the red slide.

This amount of IR is very troubling. Right now I'm just hoping it goes away (it has been fading...). I couldn't imagine ever gaming on this thing...

Boy this set really breaks in nicely. 330 hours on the set and everything has settled in really well. Black levels and color accuracy.

The really bad IR from CNBC at 75 hours is still visible on a white slide but not on much else.

Calibration on Tuesday.

Ive run the flipper four straights nights after back to back sessions of assassins creed (PS4) only gaming I've done on the set after 300 hours of varied content, I can still see remnants of the health bar in the upper left corner. hopefully it'll disappear, time will tell

Turn off the health part of the HUD. You don't really need it. The money indicator, which you don't need to see all the time & which is tied to the map HUD for some reason, is what's caused IR for me.

+1. The 20000 to 50000 is global. If I had to guess, based on manufacturing dates and the production numbers that poster Bob brennan is keeping a tab on, I would say the number is less than 20000 for the US alone.

Amen!! One can argue about the order of things, sleep sex, yada yada but a 65 incher in the bedroom is overkill. You'll get much better mileage out of spending $3,000 on your woman than any TV. Self needs to avail himself of a tech hotline to bring himself off the ledge.

TV set has around 50-100 hours. Is this normal? I have a pretty good vision about color and everything. I got this set to run away from Sony clouding.

I just wanted to know if, according to your experience, this effect will fade/disappear over time or getting worse.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Not normal. That screen should be pretty uniformly white. Or, as close to white as any plasma can get.

Missing Business Card and Calibration

1. Missing Card: I took delivery of my new ZT60 on Wednesday. Stepping up from a VT25 and so far I am very glad I made the leap. Fan noise is a minor nuisance but I suspect I will adapt. Panasonic neglected to include the business card in the black binder. What is the significance of the card? I am wondering if it is worth contacting Panasonic.

2. Calibration: For those that have had their ZT60s calibrated by a Pro, how much improvement did you notice over the THX presets?

Open slot was for card for the European models.

We are doing some research on the # of ZT panels produced. Could you let us know what your panel number is and date of manufacture.

In case you don't know the first four numbers of your serial number represent the the year (3) and the next three the day of the year - I'm 3191 which means 2013 - July 10th - 191st day of the year.

Serial # 3191 is July 10th 191st day of the year - Panel A8576
Serial # 3290 is October 17th. 290 day of the year - Panel A12650

Thanks

The Heartbreak of IR. As a VT25 owner, I have experience with IR. I watched too much ESPN when the set was new. The Disney WOW pixel flipper can do wonders with temporary IR but in my case, it would not remove images baked into the panel. To this day, I have ESPN graphics that never faded completely. They used to upset me but eventually I got used to them. They are only visible against a solid background. I am being extra careful with my new ZT60

I've discussed with some other VT60 & ST60 users, probably paying a lot of attention of their panel, few of them get the same effect. One even get exchange from Panasonic. New set was impacted also by this pink blob / irregular dim.

Panel is now 95 hours. Good news, this is not getting worse, bad news, it is still quite visible on pure white transition / bright scenes.

At this stage, without any photo editing, here is what my DLSR capture on a light grey / almost white background. You can see reflection on the bottom-right corner, and the pink tint behind.

I've made few experimentations:

- Pixel Flipper doesn't change anything to this dim issue, which is expected if it is not IR

- Pixel Flipper works pretty will for fresh remanence BTW

- On slideshow mode, the pink effect increase as the brightness in increasing (lack of voltage somewhere maybe)

- It is not visible with the wipe screen (where white is 1/5th of the screen, so lower voltage required)

- It is visible on scenes very bright (white fading, ice hockey...). As the picture goes dark, it become almost invisible

Next on my list:

- Call Panasonic support

- Change power outlet and separate TV from AV Receiver (who knows...)

Couple of questions for you folks:

as I am approaching the 100 hours threshold,

- do you think it is safe to watch content with pillar boxes (not many in my case) and letter box ? (I didn't realized that so many movies where in 2.35 mode!)

- shall I start to tune a bit picture setting to get something better?

Is it better to mix and match varied full screen content, the built in screen wipe, and pixel flipper - or is the pixel flipper the best option regardless?

Idk how you guys do it seriously even those with the separation that's worse than mine. I don't see how this thing can stay attached. If that part didn't adhere well it only makes me wonder when all the other pieces will start coming undone.

There is a 65"zt60 at BB for 2600$. Obviously a store model and most likely 2k hours on it. But if no separation it might make me a happy man (heavy on the maybe) but i also think that would be a worse move than the one I just made. So it looks like I'm living with it unless I get a F8500 but I feel like it will not even match this set. I spoke with Chris from Cleveland Plasma a few weeks ago (wonder what he's gonna call it when plasma truly is done) and he said he would never spend 3K on a ZT and should just get the "just as good" as he put it, F8500. But he is a salesman so I can't imagine that's all true

Hi Selfmade,

I've been following your tv saga since the 60vt60 set with dent and scratches. I've also seen the screen seperation shot you posted on your new 60zt. When I posted my screen seperation shot it was because it was noticable and to add to the several other peoples pictures of their sets. My unit was a demo from Best Buy that had 2500 hrs with no burn in and no dead pixels, I noticed the slight seperation before buying my set but still went ahead and purchased it. It was delivered after being in a wooden A frame type portfolio unboxed and sitting in a very cold truck allnight. Then carried unboxed by 2 guys up a steep hill to our house. After giving the set 24 hrs. to warm up I powered it on and all was perfect. Checking the geometry and essentials with the Disney WOW disc absolutely no issues.. The seperation wasn't any worse after the shaky delivery than it was at the store and hasn't changed since. These sets are a lot more durable than they appear. If the screen suddenly falls off the TV and kills the cat I'll let everyone here know but I think you got a perfect ZT60 brand new and should be delighted. I hope you can put on some amazing bluray transfers like 2001, The Wild Bunch, Black Narcissus, Skyfall and so on and just begin to enjoy how excellent a TV set you own.

Hope you can finally relax and appreciate your set.

Rich

Maybe you do not realize this but you are telling this to the person who is the one who blows everything out of proportion and has claimed the 2013 Panasonic line is plagued with defects and to stay away from it.

Your advice should not be directed towards him but should be directed towards everyone else here with a footnote that reads 'ignore all posts by SelfMade'.
