You have a high standard selfmade, and I respect that, but...these are mass-produced consumer appliances not handmade Porsche or Ferrari engines.

I thought they were hand picked and put together? The TVs not the Ferraris

Says in the booklet that the glass is hand picked. Idk maybe I'm wrong about what it says. Also I didn't expect scratches because the ZT was so carefully made unlike the VT do to the gapless aspect of it. So seeing these scratches it has to be from the person who owned it previously. I just hope they didn't wipe off the filter.

How would you be able to tell if he filter was ruined?

Who said that? The ZT is the flagship model, the top of the line, but it's still just a TV. There were over 20,000 of these things produced. The "high end" comes from their design & engineering, not assembly.

Will see what BB says. She's calling me back later about the situation but in the mean time checking inventory for any that are left. If not maybe I can just talk them into a calibration since the scratches do not cause any PQ issues unless I shine an LED light on them they are visible. Wish there was a way to find out why it was returned. Anyway my
Luck has (not that I had any) has run out. No Panny Plasma for me but oh well it's my fault gotta learn to with it.

I think status 5 is the number of times Self has returned a TV. Just kidding!

Self, it's not a matter of luck, it's a matter of reconciling the real with the ideal. Ideally everything we own should be perfect but we know that's not always the case. As such, you must temper your high expectations with a dose of reality. That is your sticking point, not luck.

What's your opinion on my filter question? Hopefully BB will find one for me...offer me a discount or a calibration would be nice.
Also the fans are louder than the other sets but not annoyingly loud. Can hear them but there can't be a whole lot of noise going on, subtle scenes and with sound off is heard most. My others were quieter but far from silent

A BB calibration is about as good as no calibration at all IMO. I wouldn't hold your breath on the possibilities of getting a new unit. For that matter, BB has a policy of refusing to sell a TV after so many returns so you may not be able to buy another TV there again anyway.

A buddy of mine bought a Sub Zero fridge for $1,500 that normally costs close to $4,000. Why was it cheap? Because it had a small dent in the upper corner of the door. It still does a great job at keeping his beer cold and veggies fresh but it's doing so at half the cost. Don't look at the smudge as a defect so much as what allowed you do get one of the best TVs ever made at a deep discount. If you can't do that you may as well return it and not get any TV at all, because living with adversity and imperfection is a life skill everyone needs to have to interact and survive in this world.

I hope you allow yourself to be happy whatever you decide to do.

Actually the number of times it is turned is somewhere in the service menu.

Since the scratches were around the border it's probably due to handling it especially if it's on top or bottom. Maybe from a ring on a finger.

Yes, power cycles are listed next to hours of use in the service menu, but I didn't say anything about power cycles in my previous post.

I admit I know very little about LCDs, but CNET is usually a pretty good source of info. They have the Samsung UNF8000 series listed as their #1 LED. The 75" model is only $6,000 on Amazon. However, it's early in 2014, so there may be some newer models coming out. One feature I would ignore completely is the whole 4k thing.

You have already made it very clear that you find "SeLfMaDe111985" posts annoying. Just block him and move on. You are simply being petty at this point. And, at the risk of unintentionally offending anyone else, the same goes for anyone who finds posts by any particular members (including myself) irritating. This constant rudeness, bickering and bitchyness does absolutely NOTHING to enhance the credibility or the prestige of this Forum or its members. mad.gif

You are 100% - I personally fall into this trap and will immediately cease and desist - There are serious issues and concerns that we could better spend our time addressing!

We even had to have the moderator jump in POST 10524 and suggest we get "get back on topic" rather then bantering back and forth.

FYI: The last few BDs I've seen have been absolutely stunning on the ZT60.

Thor 2, the Hunger Games, Oblivion, and Gravity.

All highly recommended, guys!

Your joking right? Anyway they saw me pack it up at best buy and it was packed good. And they loaded it into the truck. And how is the center of the screen getting scratched when it's handled on the outsides? So your accusing me of purposely scratching this TV, I don't do that kind of stuff. I may want a deal or want what I'm paying for but never would I intentionally destroy a TV. Like I said the set has scratches that do not obstruct the PQ. I just want to know my levels.

But still no one will answer the filter question..can it be easily wiped off with the wrong cloth or wrong cleaner?

The full-screen "arena" AR was a pleasant surprise on Catching Fire, in a rare case where the sequel betters its predecessor.

Maybe the heat generated by the boards in that area is bringing it out. It's so slight as to hardly be a bother.

But still no one will answer the filter question..can it be easily wiped off with the wrong cloth or wrong cleaner?
I don't think he was accusing you, just that you might have difficulty convincing Best Buy that it wasn't caused by you based on their previous description.

No one's tried wiping their filter off the ZT yet as far as I know (it is too beneficial to entertain such a thought), but a corrosive agent could conceivably cause some damage.
