That doesn't stop the Kuro thread from having bursts of action. wink.gif But yes, this thread has in all probability seen its best days.

I would also say that's due to a lack of problems and issues with the zt60 too. Remember the rising black thread for the panasonic plasmas in 2010? It was hundreds of pages long. Th vt50 plasma which was also a great plasma was a fairly strong performer and had relatively few problems ppl complained about and that thread wasn't active after a year or so either

The way I see it, the more problems and issues a tv has the more busier the thread will become and vice versa

Vinnie I read that your IR has become worse on your zt60......that's rotten luck mate. Sorry to hear about that.

Think your set is a lemon then? Maybe get panasonic to follow up on it and get a full refund or something?

I know plasma sets can have IR more so than others but your set seems extremely vulnerable frown.gif

I'm loving my set. Nothing to moan about really.

If anyone has a Leo Lag tester I wouldn't mind knowing the best settings for gaming and if Brilliance Enhancer and Resolution master have an affect on input lag.

I know you have to enable Gamemode and Disable pure direct and not to use THX modes due to the pixal orbiter.

I am also interested in this. Why would you need to disable pure direct?

Thanks, but I doubt Panasonic would give me a second consideration. I'm currently waiting for them to follow back up with me on getting the fan fix (so much for "escalation") after calling last week.

The IR is slight enough to not be visible typically, so I've just stopped hunting for it. I'm not sure there's any tech that is on the horizon that can replace LCD that is immune from this phenomenon. OLED is not currently it. Both OLED and plasma require being treated with kid gloves. It's mostly worth it for the PQ benefits.

I'm currently thinking of getting the 60" version of this as the black levels have made my OCD impossible to resist but... how to convince the lady... As I only just got a 50" VT50 end of February.

Just all the reviews and responses here and many videos, the black levels are eating away at me. Plus this studio master panel talk. How to justify to her over £2,000 for it. redface.gif

How dark would this be in a dark room over the VT50? As the TV would be mainly used at night. Plus, would the VT glasses also work with the ZT? I don't think I could handle the thought letting it go then having to wait years for OLED.

VT50 glasses should work no problem still using RF, there is a noticeable difference between the VT50 and VT60 blacks so it would probably be even more evident on the ZT because of the filter.

The ZT gets about as black as a TV can get but pictures like that don't do you much good. It's a processed image viewed on a computer monitor or TV screen that in all likelihood can't get as dark as what the picture demands.

Get the ZT if you can afford it & can sell the VT50. It's better in the dark but You're most of the way there already. IMO it's not worth losing money on the old TV & paying full price on the new one.

I'm going to hold onto the VT50. I love it. The cheapness of these old LCD's is quite dire now after getting used to Plasma for the last month plus how grey the picture is and poor contrast ratio.

I think I'd rather have 2 great Plasma's for end of life products for the next 4+ years rather than keep on putting up with LCD.

It adds to the lag due to the extra processing.......apperantly. But again it would be great if someone could test this with a lag tester.

He said over £2,000, which comes out to a lot of crumpets (~$3,400). That's for the 60" model.

Has any one compared the Sony XBR-65X900A 65 4K Ultra High Definition TV & 4K Ultra HD Media Player Bundle?

I know it's not plasma but I saw it and was very impressed! It uses Quantum Dot Technology

I can get one for $2,700!

That would be a hell of a price for the 65 inch. Very nice tv indeed!!

I've had a look at the Sony 4k. It looks nice, but it's still just an LCD. The 4k aspect is lost outside of about 12 inches. That and the dearth of content rounds UHD down to regular old HD. And then you're watching an HD LCD. Tech is still too new IMO.

You came in pretty late in the cycle. The ZT60s first went on sale in May 2013 (yes, I agree that 11 months is still a short upgrade cycle...if you're happy with what you have). Personally, nothing short of an OLED is likely to replace my ZT60 (and at a larger size than 65"). I doubt I can even hope to pull that off this year.

Well that was my point it's not even a year since these were released. Crazy what can happen in less than a year. Biggest hype 11 months ago and now are all gone unless you live in the UK. Btw Vin I'm getting the fix. Mine as well. If it breaks it breaks

Sony is my favorite LCD but I couldn't be less impressed with 4K. Plasma is always touted for picture quality but lack of motion blur is by far my favorite thing about them.
If I ever build a theater room I'd go 4K projector. 3D and 4K are two things that benefit from 75+"

Or Australia. wink.gif Apparently, the North American market was the last bastion of high-end plasma sales for Panasonic...based on the seemingly poor uptake in other regions. Good luck on the fix. I am waiting to hear back from Panasonic who have escalated the issue since apparently they are not setting me up with the only local tech available. I'm wondering if there's anything that can be done short of me shipping it to an authorized service center, which I'm definitely not doing for fan noise. I'm also quite annoyed that I can see the faint band on the right-hand side of the screen now at 1900'ish hours. Nothing's perfect.mad.gif
