Vinnie,

My fan noise was just as bad so I took the plunge and did the fix. Good news is it did reduce mine by at least 50%. Just give the tech tip to the people who come do the work. I made sure they read it first and the front panel was reapplied correctly.

Is that normal?? Goes from super loud on white to nothing on grey dark grey. Then nothing during regular scenes but once bright scenes come
On it buzzes. Heard up to 7-8 ft away. I don't understand. Am I the only one experiencing this? I don't see how anyone in here deals with this buzz if it's normal. I know white slides are the loudest but this is like absurd. It seriously sound like a bug zapper on full blast when those whites hit or like a taser.

Self,

I observed similar behavior on my set and previous plasma. What I found was room acoustics also play a big part in the buzz that can be heard. If I moved my TV further away from my back wall the noise got better. What made the biggest improvement was hanging a blanket on the wall behind the TV - to the point that I almost didn't notice it anymore (still need a more permanent solution wink.gif ). It was obvious that for my situation the sound was being enhanced by where the TV was in the room!

The local tech is on the case. wink.gif He just replaced the panel on my LG OLED and said he'd be ordering the foam kit to do the Panasonic fix after it arrives. I also reiterated to him about the likelihood of microfracture should the back end not be properly aligned into the groove before screwing, and he was already ahead of me on that front. Very wise technicians who have apparently seen it all (even OLED now, this being their first servicing wink.gif) having been in business for at least 30 years.

Self, you can't really complain about a defective set when you refuse to get it fixed. You've blown the micro-fracture issue WAY out of proportion. It only happened a few times when no one was aware of the potential problem. Now that the cause is known, and therefore how to prevent it, micro-fractures are no longer a legitimate concern.

Yo Vinnie what's up with your zt now? What happened after you ran the standard setting over night?

And what's up with your OLED? Did the panel break or something?

Self, If I remember correctly your tv is positioned close to the corner of your room. I honestly think the buzz is bouncing off of the corner which is amplifying the noise. I'm sure most of your buzz comes from the board on the left side (like mine) which is where the corner in your room is closest to the tv. Therefore, I don't think your buzz will go away. Unless you have the buzz I had every once in a while before my fan fix. Just get the fan fix done and go from there. Don't sweat the whole micro fracture issue. Or try to move your set to a different location. If not for good at least try it out to experiment and find out wether or not it's the acoustics of your room more so than the tv. Good luck.

The unevenness of the screen is still there. I'm done wasting electricity trying to resolve it. I just won't be using the set for Netflix anymore, because it seems like the navigation bar has resulted in some kind of burn-in. OLED won't be much, if any, better in this regard.

Hey guys quick question on Firmware 2.873. i know this firmware came out end of last year, but I never hooked up my TV to the internet till now (always have used Apple TV, Chromecast, Oppo, etc.). Is there any negative picture impacts of this firmware? lighter black level, or drop in brightness, color shift, image softening?

Just seeing if there is any negative to upgrading the firmware. Dont want to DL something and have it negatively impact the picture.

In any setups like this that accentuate noise, get a 2" sound absorber panel and it will do wonders to kill sound that is being amplified and reflected off a wall.

I've just bought a ZT60, but on the cinema pre-sets skin tones have an unnatural green tone. Only the "Normal" present has skin tones that look OK. It also appears to suffer from black crush on the "Normal" setting. My wife wants me to go back to the old set as she doesn't like the picture quality as much as that of the old set.

Am I right in saying that when it's run in an calibrated it will match our old 7 year old calibrated 9G Kuro?

Thank for any advice.

Thanks for the info.

Reason I ask is because Firmware can most definitely affect PQ. Just look at the VT50's 1.190 Firmware Last year. The are reports that it rose Peak luminance but at the sacrifice of the MLL rising as well. Also there were some reports of a color shift, with a little more red push. That is why i never upgraded my VT50 in my bedroom to it, i would rather take the lower MLL since i don't need higher luminance in that setup.

So i always check before a firmware to make sure it doesn't change anything on the PQ side.

Give cnets settings a try and dnices from Panasonic 2013 settings thread. They work well on my set. Thx settings does have a green tinge and yellowish blotchy skin tone sometimes. My thx looks alittle better after 500 hours though.

I agree with the poster above, try out some settings from Cnet or Dnice to start. Calibration will make it near the equal of a Kuro. Definitely worth it to get it calibrated. Also, as for black crush, play around with the gamma settings i found this helped quite a bit on mine prior to calibration, especially if you watch with some ambient light in the room.

Thanks Guys.

I am looking for it to have equal picture quality to my Kuro though. Will it be OK once I get it professionally calibrated?

I'll use the same guy who did my Kuro. He got mine better than any other Kuro I've ever seen.

The ZT does do motion very well and cartoons look superb, but obviously correct skin tones are a must. I have noticed some improvement in the picture now it's done about 45 hours. Myself and the family aren't liking it as much as the Kuro at the moment though so I'm having to resist going back to the Kuro with the promise things will improve.

One odd thing I've noticed about my panel is that if you stand up and look down on it from the top, it behaves like an LCD and the picture loses quality, becoming very dark to the point you can hardly see an image. OK from any other angle though. Not an issue with normal seated viewing, but do they all do that?

All the best.
Roy
