He is lurking over at the Sony 4K LCD forum. I guess he is looking to upgrad.

Used to say 'Banned' under his name. Now its blank. I think normally its supposed to say 'avs addicted member' or something like that. I still don't think he's been unbanned though.

Of course if he's over at that sony 4k forum I guess I could see him wanting to keep things quiet

In case any of you were waiting for a reply from vinnie97, he was permanently banned.

Java developers, when I saw what has been placed into Java 8 I was immediately reminded of how I've spent so much of my life trying to protect engineers from themselves. Lambda expressions are a horrible idea. Gentlemen: the goal isn't to make code readable for a competent mid-level engineer. The goal is to make code readable for a competent mid-level engineer exhausted and hopped up on caffeine at 3 am. What a disaster Java 8 is!

Too bad. He's been on this forum probably longer than most. Very helpful too. Can't imagine what he did to get banned. It's not like he was Self.

I've spoken to him and a mod. I'm frankly not sure why his account shows stuff like that, but it's a permanent ban.

I think Vinnie knew more about Self than he initially let on.

I can.t hear any fan noise on my April 2014 purchased ZT60 even with the audio muted.

I rarely hear my fans. If quiet, I hear them spin up when I first turn on the TV. I have a May build without the fan fix.

I am considering moving my 58VT25 to 65ZT60. I have ordered ZT60 should I keep it or wait for AX900?

Is the 58VT25 affected by the rising black problem? If so and even though there's a fix now, I would move up to a ZT60. I replaced my 54V10 with a ZT and the picture is noticeably better. I really didn't need a new TV. But my logic was I like plasma and really dislike LCD/LED. Since plasma TVs were being phased out, it was a no brainer. I'm set for at least 5 years which will give OLED time to develop and drop in price.

Hi all new ZT60 owner here.

Jan 2014 build. I have very noticeable fan noise. On mute I can easily here it 10 ft away. Sounds like a ps3 or something.

Now I thought the fan noise issues had been sorted in mid 2013?

Screen is fine, just the droning fan noise that is a real downer.

Just for sanity sake, have you recent owners had noticeable fan noise?

The fan fix reduced the noise. The degree to which you notice noise with or without the fix seems to vary a great deal.

No it's a defect. I just listened to the back carefully. Every fan is essentially quiet except for the one that is in the upper left hand part of the tv if you are looking at the front of it. The droning I hear is all coming from this one fan.

Do I have any other alternative but to return it? What is this fan fix you are speaking of? Can I do this myself or is this a panasonic repair thing?

Are you out of warranty?

The only problem doing the job yourself is that if you don't replace the back of the set correctly, there can be damage to the screen due to stress. Do a search of this thread for "micro fractures" to see reports of a few sets that were damaged.

No it's brand new. I'm still breaking it in. There is a constant woo woo woo noise I can hear 10 ft away. I just can't keep it as is. I'm not sure if there is a fix from panasonic for this?

Are you hearing the fan with normal images on the TV compared to a slide break-in? If that loud without the use of the slides, would say you've got a problem. No way my May ZT is that loud.

Yes, slides on a USB for breakin, home screen, video content, it's all the same. If I use the speakers on the tv, I can get up to about 13 or 14 before I can't hear the droning anymore.

I would consider exchanging the set if you can. If not, you could try filing a warranty claim. If that doesn't work, either the Plunger or Top Gun Baffles fixes are other options. Good Luck.

Call in the warranty. I did the fan fix and it has been amazing. Just ask for an experienced tech when you place the call. The noise difference was substantial.

You might have the last ZT60 North American panel made - the way to determine DOM is:

The first four numbers of your serial number represent the the year (3) and the next three the day of the year - I'm 3191 which means 2013 - July 10th - 191st day of the year. 4001 would be January 1/1/2014 - Panel number AXXXXX

Take a look and let us know!

Panasonic TC-P65ZT60 - Oppo BDP-103D - Panasonic DMP-BDT220 - Toshiba HD-DVD-3A - OPPO DV-981HD - Harmony 880
Onkyo TX-NR809 --- Definitive Technology - Studio Monitor 65 (2) - CS8040HD - Studio Monitor 45 (2) - Super Cube 6000

Looks like it was made jan 10th. Regardless I wish it was quieter. It's definitely one fan that is the culprit.

Has anyone actually had a Panasonic rep replace a fan?

Yes. See the fan fix thread:

Panasonic ZT60 and VT60 Fan/Fridge Noise Production Numbers

But since you have a January, 2014 build, your set may have come from the factory with the fix already installed. Review the thread to determine if yours already has the foam installed. You can look through the vent holes to determine if the fix was already done. If not and they have to remove the back to apply the foam fix, make sure (very important!) they install the back case on to the front properly or you end up with the micro fracture problem.
