anyway, i've read lots of posts on here about the IR. I would just like someone to confirm what I plan to do to get rid of the IR, and add any comments you might have:

1. I'm running the slides again. I switched back from THX cinema to standard picture mode to do so. Should I have it on standard, or should I just leave it on THX cinema for the slides?

2. I just bought the Disney WOW disc so i can run the picture/pixel flipper option from that disc a bunch. it should be here friday for me to start running.

anything else anyone? any advice about what I wrote (or didnt write) would be most welcome.
First, although a hotter, brighter phosphor will almost certainly be more likely to cause IR, running slides is for panel calibration prep, not IR prevention. That's water under the bridge at this point. If I were you I'd do nothing more than watch regular 16:9 content. That alone can cure IR. When you're not watching TV run the screen wipe and then when you receive the WoW disc, run the pixel flipper overnight. But never run the flipper or wipe in lieu of watching regular full screen content.

Yet if you read the thread it is almost a deal buster OMG - IR let me buy and RCA LED - these ZT's are junk!!! Yeah, Right - Like the micro fracture panic and remember all the "single sheets of glass" panels falling off and killing the cat & little children

Best HDTV ever made - enjoy it and if you can still find one BUY IT FAST!!

From what I've read, I don't think that using the slides will be as effective as other possibilities.

In addition to the WoW disc, I would also try a 1.78:1 aspect ratio bright movie like the Pixar titles.

Try not to panic. IR goes away over time.

You didn't say if you can see it watching normal source material. If you can't, then I would only use the various cure methods when you wouldn't ordinarily be watching your set.

just got the last zt60 i could find .... returned my F8500 and like this set a LOT more... have had it for about a week... tonight when watching an ocean documentary [planet earth], i noticed a very faint dark stripe on the right side of the screen during scenes that had light blue water taking up most of the screen. it's only noticeable during very light coloured scenes... otherwise it looks fine when the scene is mixed colours.

will this go away over time?

Allegedly it will, but I really didn't even notice it at all for quite some time. And now it's probably double that (I've had set for about a year now), and I did see it the other day, same as before. I doubt mine will go away, perhaps you'll have better luck.

fwiw, I noticed it while watching mostly white content. Normally I just don't see it (maybe a dozen times I noticed it), one of the few things that make me go hmmm, but that's about all it does.

Has anyone tried adding an app to the Panasonic App screen? How does one do this? I want to add the Watch ESPN app to the screen but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. Thanks for your help.

I've had my ZT65" since October and I'm loving it. I got it when the rumors of Panasonic exiting the plasma business first started to make the rounds and got Best Buy to match an internet price. One of the best A/V purchases I've made in a long time.

Congrats on the new set! That is what's called banding and as the screen size went up it was more common. Some have stated it went away in time or at least lessened some. If it does not affect most of your viewing activities I would say don't worry about it and enjoy the great picture this set provides.

To get to the downloadable app's you have to click on the Vierra Market in the upper left of screen. When you do this you'll see different links Music, Sports, ect.

Mine did early on, but it's since faded. In some scenes when I'm looking for it I can see it, but it's effectively no longer there.

for a $5000 TV, between the fan noise and vertical banding, i gotta say i am really disappointed. i'd return it to get another one but who is to say it would be any better... i give up at this point.

the picture quality is the best though... i just hope i can live with the vertical band.

It's not a $5,000 TV. While I agree that the fan noise is a real engineering failure. That should have been discovered during R&D. However, I don't see the vertical banding as an issue since I don't see it anymore. It's not vertical banding you see in some plasmas either. I think it's associated with the adhesion process or the location of one of the boards behind the screen.

Regarding the banding, I rarely notice it on mine. And if I do, usually very faint. Stile, give it some time and you'll forget about most of your TVs faults. Hopefully your fan issue will be one of those faults! Like someone said, the fan issue should've have been resolved during the R&D process.

Question. If you live in Canada near the border and buy a TV in the US, on the way back will they always stop you to pay import duty on it, or can you often just slip it through the line?

I live in the US, so I'm not planning this myself----just curious.

I'm not seeing that on amazon at least.

BTW, do you guys feel confident that you could tell the difference between the VT60 and ZT60 PQ? And what of the prior year's VT50? The VT50 (no ZT that year) seemed to have very low numbers of complaints of IR/BI at AVS (just my impression), while the later ZT60 seems to have annoyed many people this way.
