Thanks for the PM reply AMartin56. I don't have enough posts, otherwise I would have simply replied.

That's my spot too. Heading over there today to pick up some speakers. Why don't you name them publicly? They're great.

Last night for the first time... My 64f8500 turned off on its own. It had a countdown timer in lower left of screen inside a blue menu box. I only caught the last couple seconds of it. Sleep timer was off and cable box content was displayed When it happened. I've never seen this and I have 1500 hours on set. Ideas?

Checked the clip slot on the panel and it is free of any obstructions. I'm going to call Samsung to send me another right clip, but wanted to check here to see if anyone has come across this issue. The left clip screw holes align perfectly. Thanks for any assistance.
Thanks for the replies on this issue. In case anybody else runs into this same issue, Samsung sent me another clip and the new one slid in completely with minimal effort.

Under System, then eco solution, make sure No Power OFF and Auto Power OFF are off. Then under Screen Burn In Protection make sure Auto Protection Time is off.

Guy's I have been away for a while and just come back on the grid. I have a doubt regarding the firmware update for our F8500.

I've never updated my firmware ever since my purchase since I read many owners complaining about reduction in brightness once the firmware is updated.

Is this still the case or is it safe for me to update to the latest firmware ?

If you like what you see, and if it is calibrated, leave it alone. You may only be opening a new can of worms that may cause new problems. I do not use the web stuff with my set so there is nothing to be gained.

You should have gotten the standard remote as well.

Hell, I was blaming my older kids for changing the channel on my little guy. This was going on for a month, until I realized that the audio command was on.

anyone here have exp with panel replacement for warranty?
is there a serial number and build date on the panel?
Does the total screen time in the service menu show the age of the new panel or does it retain the time logged on your old panel? Was your replacement panel 'new', ie. 0 or very little hours logged?

Display: 64" Samsung 3D Smart PDP F8500
Audio: 54" Vizio 5.1 Sound Bar System S5451w-C2
NAS: Seagate Backup Plus 5TB via Asus RT-AC56U Router

Try setting the color space on your blu ray player to 4:2:2 instead of 4:4:4 and see if that solves the blu ray issue. Do you have the latest FW? If all fails try a factory reset.

I still notice brightness pops during content. I thought this was addressed in a FW update?

Thanks for your reply, I will try to find the setting 4:2:2.
I have the latest FW update.
Just to be sure after a factory reset , my calibrated tv can be used with the same calibrated settings?

Keep you informed.
Thanks

Thanks for the help with my question on missing items everyone. Unfortunately, Best Buy couldn't find the missing accessories. I showed them that replacing the missing parts (and the broken Smart Touch remote) would cost $270 including shipping from Samsungparts.com and they offered me half the cost as a refund. So now I'm on a mission to try to acquire the missing items cheaper than that $135.

So if anyone has extra accessories/cables that they aren't using for their TV, please send me a message. I'm looking for any unneeded 3D glasses as well as the RCA and Component adapters as my main priorities. Thanks!

Well I can't speak for the remote but you can get the compatible Samsung 3D glasses at Best Buy for about $19.99. And cables cost a dime a dozen.

Yes, your calibrated settings will work after reset. You will have to re enter them after reset, so write them down before you reset.

Unfortunately nothing worked. 4:2:2 setup didnt work and a complete reset neither. I guess something is wrong with the motherboard or the current supply, I am not sure.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Have you tried different HDMI cables? Can you turn deep color off on your blu ray player? The fact that you have no issues with your cable box makes me wonder if it is the tv. What type of blu ray player do you have?

I have re-read your previous posts. Cell light at 16 or 17 causes the issues. Yea, that's not normal. I remember reading some early posts that some had that same issue with cell light at 16 and 17. Not sure what their solution was, but i would think calling Samsung is all you can do for now.

Hi there, I have a PN60F8500 and had an issue while trying to reload my calibration settings. It ended up causing some default WB settings in the service menu to be reset and a factory reset is not fixing the issue. I was wonderig if anyone would be willing to help me by sending me pictures of the default service menu settings through a private message. To me it looks like only the ADC/WB settings were effected. The red, green and blue offset and gains have all been reset to 128 and I require the default values.

Those are the default values for ADC/WB, check also ADC Result - should be close to 130,130,130,69,69,69

I was able to do an HDMI Calibration set successfully using the test pattern and those are the exact results that the calibration set (130,130,130,69,69,69). But I'm certain that 128 was not the original default value for White Balance settings. Unfortunately I don't have photo's of that section of the service menu to compare against.
