I'm looking to get a new 60'' plasma. I"ve always been a fan of panasonic plasmas. My question is: should I get the 2013 TC-P60S60 ($1209) vs 2012 TC-P60ST50 ($1348)?

- I don't really care about 3D
- The price difference is negligible to me
- I'll be sitting ~10' from the TV
- I've get 2 Definitive Tech STS, Mythos 3 and Gems powered by a Marantz 6007

I'm also not too interested in Smart TV features, as I have an Apple TV that I'm happy with.

Light controlled room: S60 (no screen filter)
Bright/Brighter room: ST50

There are only windows on the perpendicular walls. All of the windows will have window treatments.

Is there really only a 150$ difference between the 2 60" models? There is like an $800 difference between the 2 65" models when I was looking. That being the case, would definitely go with the ST60 for that small of an increase. The S60 is good, but the lack of filter kept me away from it. I really enjoy my 65S64 though, couldn't ask for a better TV for the price.

edit: ignore my ability to misread...

This is a tougher question. It basically comes down to the where it will be used since I believe both TV's are pretty similar.

I think you mis-read the options. wink.gif

If glare/reflections won't bother you, then the S60 is a bit better.

Ahh...sneaky, I get so used to seeing the 60 series now.

My living room:

Found an almost identical fireplace that has exactly what I intend to do:

Even ambient light will wash out the picture faster having no filter vs having one. Those pot lights (unless they're dimmable) or having the window open during the day will be enough to make it look washed out compared to the ST50. In a dark or moderately lit room, the S60 will look a bit better. Depends on what conditions you do most of your viewing in.
