Need a little advice...I currently have Pioneer PDP-5020 and love it but I want to go bigger.

I'm currently mulling over purchasing a USED Pioneer Elite PRO-150/151 or PDP-6020, if I can find in the proper condition, OR purchasing a NEW Panasonic TC-P60VT60 / TC-P65VT60 panel. I have viewed the Panny set at HHGregg, very impressive, but I have not been able to view an ELITE Pioneer panel.

I definitely want to stick with a Plasma panel.

What's your opinion? Any advice would be appreicated!

Well for me personally all of the Panasonics bug my head big time with a lot of flicker and the kuro elite I have doesn't. Not sure how many people notice the panny flicker as much as I do.

Somelogin, you were just who I had in mind regarding the flicker....I have seen a little flicker on the ZT60 but it's only in intermittent scenes where it is triggered.

The Kuro is still king. The hard part is locating a used monitor that has been well cared for and does not have too many hours. I like the ZT 60, but until Panasonic address's the fan noise and banding issue, this would be a deal killer for me.

No, but size isn't everything contrary to popular belief.

Question - how do you determine if it has "low hours"? Is there a menu or set up display that would indicate the hours?

I'm also considering picking up a used Kuro and wonder how to gauge its hours of use. How many hours are too many?

Thanks
Kenreau

Yes in the service menu you can check how many hours there are on a Kuro, but beware the hours could have been set back.

After much research, I decided to stick w/Pioneer but wanted to step up to an Elite. I found Elite PRO-150FD (original box, stand, manual, remote) in Atlanta, my son and I made the 800 mile roundtrip on my wife's '09 Pilot (fit perfect), set up and calibrated using DVE HD Basic...GREAT PICTURE!!! Contemplating ISF professional calibration but am totally pleased with the current picture.smile.gif

Mods -- please forgive if this is not the appropriate spot to post this, but since I am going through almost the same decision making process as Febresp, I thought it approriate to ask here: what is the collective wisdom on what one should be willing to pay for a used Kuro? For example, I am looking at used 60 inch, 9th generation, 151 or even a 141 (I cannot find a 600m for sale, which I suppose is not surprising). Assuming all are, in accordance with their listings, about 4-5 years old, with regular home useage and no issues, the stated market range (Ebay, Videogon, craigslist) seems to be $2500 to $3000 with some listed considerably higher.

That seems high to me, given the prices of a brand new VT, ZT or f8500 and the additional costs factors of buying a used set, out of warranty, that one has to (presumably) make arrangments to pick up and transport. Are these sets really still going for $2500+, or do folks here think that the market actually is, or will be, lower? Many thanks.

x 2 here...I'm looking for feedback/recommendations on this exact same situation.

Thanks
