Some ZT60/VT60 owners are experiencing audible fan noise, which is like having a fridge working in your room. In this thread, we will post some production numbers, in case if someone from panny decides to investigate the problem. You can post your pr# here, and I will update the appropriate post with your info.
Update:
It is now confirmed that all VT and ZT units are affected with the so called fan/fridge noise to some extent. As confirmed by the AV UK thread, this noise is due to the design of the back panel and not the fans in particular. The air flow through the back panel makes the noise, and the units with back panels removed do not make any noise. However, it is worthy to mention that the noise depends heavily on the room dimensions and surrounding materials, and many did not experience ANY sort of noise with their fans.
The Fix:
Those who experienced the noise, never could get a healthy unit through exchanges and returns. Panasonic has a fix that is a set of foams to be installed between the fans and the back panel. According to those who went through Panasonic repair, the foams DO reduce the noise, but the updated units are no where near silent.
Latest Update:
As confirmed by a few members, now the foam fix is being done at the factory. Any built date after July 2013 should have the fix pre-installed. If you have an earlier build, you can call Panasonic, and they will send a technician to install the foam fix.

65VT60 - don't have the production number in front of me but I know the build date was May.
Before wall mounting, I could hear a soft humming only with volume muted.
Now that it's wall mounted, I can hear even louder the humming/pulsing with the speakers on (during quiet scenes only). I didn't use any "super slim" wall mount either. The fans have a decent distance to the wall.
I really don't want to go through the hassle of an exchange only to possibly have the same problem. I may see how I get used to it. Thankfully I don't notice it during normal volume levels from the speakers.
That's what happens when you come here and read these forums, some people will make other people feel paranoid about the stupidest things. Just remember that only a small percentage of owners are on this forum and they post problems most of the time, the thousands that are happy with their sets are owners not on these forums. Not saying that no tv has no problems but sometimes they are glorified too much. In other words, if you really want something go get it, not all sets are the same, just like women.
I just watched cable for about an hour and no fan noise even when muted. Im not sure why it was so loud the other night. It was on for about 2 hours and streaming a movie from amazon over wifi.

The noise depends on the room and the hearing abilities of the person. VT and ZT are both great sets, however, if you have expensive speakers, and if you are remotely audiophile, you may not be able to bear with the fan sound.
There are some alternative solutions, like building the redirection dampers for the fans as stated by some members in the ZT thread. If you truly love the picture, the last resort is to build those magnetic cardboard dampers. Most of us complaining don't want to believe that the problem is general, but unfortunately the odds of getting a good set is very slim.
