I was set on getting 60'' Panasonic 60ST60 but wife saw it today and she did not like the silver edge around the TV.
She would prefer for all of it to be black, so I think I won't be able to get it.
I liked it's price, I liked that it's a Panny and I liked that everyone was raving how good this is for the cost.
What would be my other option in similar price range, probably up to $2k.
Would you let me know the difference on what you reccomend compared to Panny ST.
Thanks.

Lol, I guess we know who wears the pants, just bugging you, seriously it's a non issue once you see the picture quality.

Too me it's not an issue, to her it's such an issue that I don't think I'll be able to convince her for it.
I don't really wanna get a TV which she'll be looking at every day and it'll bug her, she has a lot of input when it comes to looks and design of a house.
Women, eh ? :P

I hear you , but unless she is paying for it, she shouldn't have any input in my opinion. But if she is going in with you than yeah she should have some say in it. You may want to check out some Samsung models that are all black but in your budget you won't find a better value and better performing TV than the Panasonic ST60. Good luck.

Get the ST60. Spend a few extra bucks for some black trim tape. "Problem" solved.

I would also try real hard to convince her, but if she won't budge, then consider the 64f5500, its bigger and could be found under 2000, I'm assuming you will be purchasing in Ontario.

There is a comparison thread here http://www.avsforum.com/t/1467425/panasonic-st60-vs-samsung-f5500/180

A fellow AVSer has done this to their set, and can be seen in their post here

The TV is ugly. I thought it and so did the wife but that is absolutely not a reason to not buy it. You buy a TV for the picture quality and not it's outer looks.

I feel sorry for your man to have to settle for a TV based on how it looks when it is turned off. Might as well just buy a painting instead of a TV so your room can look pretty.

I posted this in the ST60 forum. I have a telescope that has white visible all over. So I took a flat black paint pen and covered the white with that (it helps with contrast and refection's). It did take several coats but it worked. You might want to give that a try.

Thanks AKA, maybe I'll buy some 3M black sticker and just glue it on, then I could stick with ST60.

I was in same boat 1 month ago.

But bit the bullet & bought it.

Up against our light grey (close to white) walls, you don't see it at all.

Be strong & go for the ST60.
