This is a very strange comparison, I'll admit. I'm looking to buy a 60" plasma. Would have gone for the ST60 but don't want the high input lag (a story heard many times on this forum). So I was looking at last year's 60ST50 for $1600. But turns out Best Buy has a sale on the 60ZT60 for $2600. So here is the weird question, is the ZT60 $1000 better than last year's ST50?

Based on cnet reviews, here is how I summarize ZT is better:

• ZT60 has better picture overall, but particularly in a bright room
• ZT60 displays movies smoother (has 96HZ mode)
• ZT60 has better 3D performance
• ZT60 has more picture controls
• ZT60 looks better when off (not as chinsy)

If anyone has additional advantages please post them.

I guess it is really up to me to decide if this is worth $1000 difference. I had intended to spend less than $2000, but $2600 for the 60ZT60 sounds like a great deal...

What would you do?

Do you have anything against the VT? Amazon had the 60" version for right at $2k yesterday. May have gone up since then though.

The VT60 at $2000 would have been the best solution. Unfortunately I didnt hear about the sale until 20 hours after it ended.

So I find myself deciding between a bad deal on the st50 and a great deal on the zt60. Maybe a no brainer to a lot of people, but was really trying to keep the cost under $2000.

The ST50 is good set, but while the blacks are very good, they still leave something to be desired, IMO. Though I have heard they are little better on the 60" and 65" models (I have the 50").

Have you looked at the S60? No 96khz/24fps, no A/R filter, and lacks the ultra fine picture adjustments (still has Pro Mode though), but has a super fast input response. It's quite a bit cheaper than the ST60 at $1600.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Decided to go with the ZT60 (after getting wife's approval for larger cash outlay... she mentioned something about new shoes and possibly a diamond...gulp). Anyways, ordered it today at Best Buy. Should arrive Wednesday.

Yes I did consider the S60, but it had too much glare for me. TV will go in a room that gets fair amount of natural light during the day. Also wanted 3 HDMI inputs (S60 has only 2). Would have considered the S64, but doesn't come in 60" size. My built-in book cases will fit a 60" max. Wasn't willing to go with the 55' and lose the 5".

Thanks again.

^^^ Yep, sure did. I got the 60" for $2699. I could have sworn it was $100 cheaper on Friday though. Must have been wishful thinking. Anyways, real excited to get it. Congrats on your 65"!
