Well, I've been ready to buy a new TV for close to 6 weeks now. Amazon has said "usually ships in 1-2 months" for close to 6 weeks now. No local Best Buys have them either. Went online to Best Buy and I cannot get one shipped to any store for pick up. What's the deal? Are they on backorder everywhere?

Where can I get one for a decent price? The $1499 price which includes shipping from Amazon is what I'm lookig for. MAYBE I'll pay a little more if someone can find one for me or tell me a reputable place to order from.

Just was researching and came across Abe's of Maine. Looks like they have one and for the price of $1499. However, I started reading the fine print and their return policy SUCKS! No way I'm spending that much money with a retuen policy of;

The following items cannot be returned:
Fitness equipment, Large Appliances, Microwaves, Wine Coolers, Humidifiers, Trim kits, Security items, Special Order Merchandise, Marine and Camping Equipment, Sunglasses, Watches, Software, TV's, Computer components, laptops, Tablets, Bikes

TV/Big Screen/Rear Projection/Monitors are not returnable to Abe's of Maine. If initially defective they must be serviced by an Authorized Service Technician. Abe's of Maine can help you locate your nearest Authorized Service Technician.

Please note that all televisions with 6 or less dead pixels is industry standard for all manufacturer's. There will be no refunds or exchanges for television with 6 or less dead pixels.

Or, should I just forget trying to find this Panasonic and go with a Samsung? Is there a comparable model to the ST60?

The closest Samsung would be the F8500 series, but it's like double the price. The F5500 is more like the lower S60 but with 3D added.

I doubt that you will find a retailer that has the 60ST60 or even the 55ST60 in stock (but especially the 60"). The ST60 probably has the highest demand of any new TV on the market today, primarily the 60" & 55" because of their great price points. The high demand for this model TV is due to CNET and other respected review sites giving it "spectacular" 5 star reviews, along with forums like this having posts from current ST60 owners raving about their TVs. I ordered a 60" from Amazon on 7/1, was given estimated shipping dates of 7/22 - 8/19, and I have yet to hear from Amazon or the shipper to schedule delivery.

If you don't want to spend more money, then your only other option is to spend less money and buy a lower model TV such as the F5500 (like Randy stated), S60, or the S64 (Costco & Sam's Club exclusive. It's a S60 with the ST60 AR filter that the S60 lacks).

If you can't wait for the ST60 and 3D doesn't matter to you, then I would suggest the 65S64 (if you can handle a 65" wherever you are installing it). Sam's has it right now for $1288.

Good luck! smile.gif

If you want the ST60, get your name on a list. Retailers are receiving them, but right now they're all going to fill existing orders. Either open an order or get a salesperson to take your contact info.

Agree with last post. I emailed the manager at the local Best Buy last Thursday to inquire if he had visibility to the 60" ST60's inventory. He emailed me the next day that he had a handful available at his warehouse. I ran over to the store (on 7/12) and purchased a unit for delivery next Monday (7/22)....supposedly.

Well thanks for all of the posts. If I am going to spend upwards of $1500 dollars and can't find what I want, maybe I should spend a tad more and get the VT60. I found it for $2200. Or, should I "downgrade" and get the Samsung F5500 for around $1200? Thoughts?

That all depends on your budget. Only you know what you can afford....

With that said if you can swing the extra cash then the VT60 would be the obvious choice over any of the other TVs mentioned. But if you are trying to stay within a ST60ish budget, then I would say your next best bet would be the S60/S64 (that's if 3D capability is not important to you).

Well definitely want the 3D capability. I swear I am leaning towards the VT60 now. $700 more than the ST60........maybe not totally worth 700 more. But who knows when the ST's will come back in stock anywhere. I want to get my room set up before the end of August.

The VT is a great set especially if you are getting a pro calibration, only you can determine if the extra cost is worth it but it does have full cms better 3d but doesnt get as bright in 2d tho, what are your lighting conditions ?

Room has 2 windows on one end, french doors at the other and 2 small window on each side of the wall where the tv will be mounted. No windows across from the tv though, just a solid wall.

I might just end up spending more to have a tv right now. I could spend less and get that Samsung F5500. But I'm kind of nervous regarding Samsung. Read a lot of reviews with any complaints. Panasonic seems to have very few in comparison.

I wouldn't do the 5500 you wont be happy with the blacks, stay Panasonic, I think the VT60 would work nicely for you

Ok thanks for that. I guess not being cable to find the st60 was meant to be. Now I'm considering a tv I never even thought about until today, the VT60.

If you place an order, you should have it well before then. Most BBs, for example, have a wait of about three weeks (less if you are persistent and/or can get a salesperson to keep an eye on the local warehouse and contact you).

If, however, you're intent on waiting for them to have them on hand in your local store and not reserved, you'll likely end up waiting longer.

Well I said to myself to forget the Samsung and stick with Panasonic. Is the VT 60 worth $700 more than the ST? I found it for a $700 difference than the $1499 price of the ST.

I think from reading reviews and maybe watching a YouTube video someone said that the vt60 has very good sound out of the speakers And the ST was not good at all.

I'm kind of second guessing buying that JBL sound bar and sub woofer and just seeing how the TV speakers are. This is going in a long narrow room with hardwood floors everything is loud anyways.

If you're serious about good sound you will need to keep that home audio equipment. No matter how good someone says a tv's speakers are the will never be as good as a dedicated audio system. Not sure your application but if you plan on watching movies and it is your theater room then I would highly recommend some exterior speakers and an amp. Sounds to me like you should go with the ST60 and spend the extra $700 on your stereo needs.....

True I understand what you're saying. I do like a good sounding system however with our current plasma TV that is six years old my wife said that the sound sounds okay to her. I've had it hooked up to some tower speakers a sub and a center speaker for about four years. but we moved into a new house and didn't want all thiose wires, bulky speakers and stuff all over the place.

I mean it's one of the older plasmas with the big sidemounted speaker. so I mean it sounds okay no low bass not real loud volume, but it gets the job done for regular TV viewing. I was just wondering if I should at least give the new VT 60 speakers a chance before I spent $550 on that JBL sound bar.

Yeah, congrats! The VT60 is a great TV.

I plan on pairing my ST60 with the Sony HT-CT660 soundbar shortly after the TV arrives from Amazon (whenever that is). Went to BB to check out the soundbar today, it sounded nice.

While I was there I asked if they had any 60ST60's in. They salesman pointed to a guy walking out the door and said "he's walking out with the last one as we speak." He told me they got an unexpected shipment of 8 in a couple of days ago. He also said they have no idea when they will get more in, that they get them from Panasonic sporadically after they run out.

Well post back when it arrives. I'd be interested to know how long the amazon " ships in 1-2 months" actually is. I just could not wait. I want everything set up before football season starts.

I'm also going to be getting a sound bar. I decided on the JBL Cinema SB400. Still have to get a bookcase/ shelves to put components on, a UPS/surge protector, schedule to custom mount into brick with separate power cable and outlet installed. Got an estimate just have to call back to schedule. Then I guess buy a Blu Ray player to take advantage of the 3D. Screw with the picture settings and tv features. You can see I have a lot of "work" to do.

Came over here to read the comments on the ST60 since my less than 3 year old Samsung plasma is afflicted with the dreaded purple banding problem. Today, Samsung refused to offer any help with repairing it. Got all the way to Executive Customer Relations who told me that the Samsung engineers were not aware of any banding problems. I guess they must not be reading the posts about it in their own forums. So, no more Samsung TVs for me. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll be living with it for awhile until the ST60 stock is replenished.

Im having the same issue. My local supplier cant get any ST60s right now and doesnt know for sure when they will. Mid august was their best guess but it could be even longer. Im trying to justify spending an extra $900 for a 60VT60 but im having a hard time doing so. The ST60 was basically the only model this year that met all my needs and stayed within my budget. What to do, what to do!? frown.gif
