I can get them all for about the same price give or take a $100.

No Gaming, very little DVD or Blu Ray's.......Mostly just regular Comcast Cable watching. Sports Packages

Elderly Aunt and Uncle

They said they want a 50" screen but I told them they should get a larger one, people always say they should have went larger.

They sit about 12 " from the set. Straight viewing, hardly any company to worry about side viewing.

It's in the corner of their retangle Living Room with the shortest end being where the tv sits in the corner on an angle and they are at the other end of the retangle in the opposite corner.

Picture window to the right of the Tv that just really only gets morning sun, by noon sun is over the top of the house. Light not a factor.

BTW the LNT5265 is still going strong, great picture !

Really wanted the P50ST60.....Went to Best Buy to look at it, It was an open box. Was turned back in on the August 1st. I asked them to test it before I buy it. The Geek plugs it in, red light comes on in the front but doesn't light up the screen. DOA

He was as pissed as me. He said who ever took it back at customer service should have checked to see if it was working or not.

Oh well the search continues.

I would cast my vote for the ST60. I have the ST50 and am VERY happy with the display. I don't think you will find a better display at that price point either.

I am sure most consumers wouldn't care enough about quality to pick the better display, so cheaper could be better for them. Personally I would rather give my money to the company that is making high quality displays at reasonable prices. What do the reviews online have to say about the other TVs? Also a thing to consider is that the Samsung Plasma likely doesn't have a screen filter like the ST60. (LED isn't an option in my opinion) *Disclaimer: I am pretty biased toward Plasma....

Well I had a budget ($800) to stay in line with so I opted for a whole different set.

They really didn't need 3D anyway so I went for a Panasonic TC-50PS64 from Costco. I picked it up last week from Costco for $599.00 plus Tax.
They are really happy with it , it looks fantastic. When I took back the regular cable box to the cable company to get an HD Cable Box at Comcast. My Uncle was yelling at me, hey don't take my Box that has all my Major League Baseball Package games in it.

I so don't worry I will be sure to get one that has all your games in it. LOL

So as I hooked it up, first thing he wanted me to check was channel 771...that has the full 14 or 15 games schedule on it. I said there it is . Life is good.smile.gif

I changed settings on the Cinema and Custom mode that Fairchild had posted for one of his low hour settings. Looks pretty good, I didn't stay real long though and I was there during the day, I want to go back next week in the evening and see how it looks at night. Looked pretty good out of the box to tell you the truth but I figured and I can always set it back to those(default settings later if I want to change it back.) right?

Looks like a solid budget panel. I spent some time reading up on it on the forums seems like a pretty well received set. Id recommend getting your uncle to watch as much TV with out static images as possible for the first month or so. $599 for a 50 inch is pretty dang good. I should look at that for my parents. My step dad still watches football on a 32 tube they bought like 10 years ago.

Yes, I told them to stay away from the Black bar stuff and the rolling ticker tape stuff, whether they do it or not is another question.

On my older panasonic plasm Tv(TC-P54G20) I have there is an option in the tool section for running a scrolling bar...........I'm wondering if this set has something like that or not. When I set the tv up I never really looked for it because I didn't think they could handle any more information about the set at the time, I plan on going over this week to check it out and see.

It should have the scrolling bars, My ST50 does and I actually use it a lot. I like to quickly throw it on if I have to pause a movie for more than a min or after extended gaming.
