Thinking about returning the 55" vizio i just bought at costco for this model. I dont really car about any "smart" features. The tv will be used to watch directv content in a dark room. Any reason not to pull the trigger on the plasma?

Can anyone let me know weather or not this TV is capable of passing through 5.1 surround? I have a Vizio sound bar with the satelite surround speakers, which I believe runs Dolby 5.1. The sound bar only has one optical audio input, so the plan was to connect my devices (satelite & xbox) to the monitor via HDMI, and run the optical out to the sound bar. Will the monitor dumb down the signal to stereo, or will it remain a 5.1 signal? Thanks so much, this tv looks like a heck of a deal.

That measurement is taken with a full white screen test pattern. With normal content the set has plenty of light output for a plasma. My biggest problem with this TV and the 5500 is that they are very reflective, even for a set that doesn't have a filter.

The full white screen test pattern is not usually a big deal, UNLESS you watch a lot of hockey. Unfortunately, hockey looks pretty bad on this television.

The 5300 is at bestbuy for $699 and costco has the 5350 for $699 as well....does it matter which one I buy? They seem to be identical.

So the 5350 has the "B" revision as well? Been trying to confirm this as I believe there were 5350 versions of the original set as well.
