Hello all. Yes I don't have a 1080P set.

Budget: Don't really want to spend over 1300.

Viewing distance is about 8ft away.

Movie watching and I will be spending a pretty hefty time with the Xbox One.

My current set is a Samsung HP-T4264. I was looking at the Panasonic P50ST60 and the Samsung UN46F7100. Any thoughts or other sets anyone could recommend?

Welcome to the 21st century, if you are going to game a lot, I recommend the Panasonic S60. It has the least amount of input lag for gaming and is excellent for bluray movies. It is much cheaper than your budget also.

I've researched the lag issue and asked a few people that game with a ps3. I "think" I wont have a issue. I want the best picture quality for the $$. Thanks for the suggestion of the s60, ill look into it more.

The LED is not bad but it has problems that all LCD's have like clouding, flash lighting, not very good angle views etc. the Panasonic is not perfect either but has better blacks, motion, angle views, etc. and it's bigger than the one you mentioned too. (Big plus)

The only setback is if you are a very heavy gamer like playing 8hrs a day I would be a little concerned about IR on the panny. I own a Panny and game for about 2-3 hrs and never had a problem. Mine is a GT50 (2012 )model though.
With the LED you would never have IR problems.

If you want the best picture quality on your budget than the Panasonic ST60 is the one. It has better picture than the S60 and more features.

Oh no no no. I don't game that much. Maybe 3-5hours every other day. Ive narrowed my choices. Unfortunately my budget went down after buying new sprakers to $1000. Please any further insight would be appreciated.

1. LG50LA6970 LCD $748
2.LG 50PN6500 Plasma $579
3. Panasonic 50ST60 $979

with Kinect style games, the input lag becomes noticeable. the st60 isn't terrible, but it's not quick by any stretch either.

for a budget, i'd be more inclined to stick with the s60. st60 would only really be worth it if you want the 3D, otherwise i'd say you have to move up to the vt60 to get the good picture quality and acceptable input lag.

do not buy an LED if you ever watch it with the lights off, just don't. this is what passed for 'solid black' on my Samsung d6300(returned two of them)

the clouding was clearly visible on all dark scenes under what I consider normal viewing conditions(no direct sunlight, room lighting 50% or under)

PS, 3-5hrs of gaming every other day is a lot... haha

Displays: Samsung PN64F8500/JVC X35
AVR: Pioneer VSX-1018AH, 5.1 audio
Sources: HTPC(Mediabrowser), PS3, XBOX360, Wii, Sony DVP-CX995V
Control: Harmony One

How can I find the lag on my current set. My current tv doesn't bother me if it had any high lag. How about the LG plasma. http://reviews.*******************.com/lg-plasma-tv/lg-50pn6500.html

The lag on the LG is 56ms vs 71ms or so...on the Panasonic.

All LG plasmas and Panasonic ST60/Samsung F8500 have terrible input lags, but if you are not a big gamer, you may find an ST60 acceptable. (can't believe I'm actually saying this lol) The ST60 more than makes it up with awesome picture quality at a screaming bargain price.
