Hi Everyone,

What would you do in this situation??

I have an opportunity to purchase a 65" S64 or a 60" ST60 for virtually the same price.  Do you think the extra 5" of the S64 is more beneficial than the better picture picture quality offered by the ST60 or do you think the better picture quality of the ST60 is more beneficial than the extra 5" of the S64?  Thanks!

I will be sitting somewhere between 10 - 12 feet away from the screen.  I am in the midst of creating a new living room for myself and am still trying to figure out the furniture setup.

True, but from what I've seen the best value play is 60" because there isn't much of a price jump between 55" and 60" but a huge price jump from 60" to 65". So as long as you can physically fit a 60" screen and are within the recommended seating distance, it's pretty much always the better buy.

My advice - go and view a ST60 and S60 in person. I found myself looking at both models you mention. However, I found a noticeable difference with regard to banding and motion, in favor of the ST60. I also taped off both dimensions on the wall to visualize the size difference. After doing this, I decided the difference in dimension was more than made up for by better PQ on the ST60.

That said, both are great values and both should work fine for that space.

Thanks!  I recently taped off the dimensions of the 60" and the 65" and I was a bit surprised to see that the difference in size was not as much as I thought it would be.  The 65" just didn't seem to be that much bigger than the 60".  Of course, judging it from looking at a taped outline might be somewhat deceiving.

I must admit that what AKA says above does hit a chord with me as I do hate banding and motion blur.  On the other hand, perhaps because of the distance I am sitting, the 65" should be the way to go regardless of the increased visual benefits of the ST60.  Thanks again for sharing your opinion.

Question to all - I noticed on the Panny specs that the ST60 has about double the amount of shades of gradation as the S64.  But, in everyday reality, does that really mean that the ST60 will show gradation twice as good as the S64 will show it?
