55' S60 in my trunk as we speak $460 bucks - last one - display model + a 2 year warranty & 30 days return ....

I'd post this in the s60 thread but I'm banned lol ...

Had mind to buy the ST 60 today - went to BB set both 50 models to cnet settings ... The difference was minimal - IMO the blacks are identical ?

I must also confess - that ST lag thread scared me away , it's gorgeous picture but I'm getting ps4 - & I can't have lag .... Unacceptable @ that price ...

The cnet review of this TV & it's top 5 gaming rating were the closer ... And of course the s60 fans here ....

Thanx

It might be better to download a ton of free 1920x1080 High Definition Wallpaper Image jpegs, put em on a USB stick, and run a Slideshow overnight. I have a few hundred amazing images of nature and cities and beaches and weather etc. Actual content like this is more effective at washing away IR than that scrolling bar thing.

In 30 days there may not be any Panasonic S60's left . . . .

You might want to change the title of your post... :-( As suggested run a few things for a while as you appear to still have time to return the unit and hunt for another "jackpot".

it's probably just persistent IR

you can put the set in Vivid mode and run the screen wipe for a few hours (be sure to take it out of Vivid mode afterwards)

how long did you display the logo for? (or was it burned in from the store feed?)

in that case, it might be permanent

think about it, displaying the same logo for months in Vivid mode

you should still try to clear it, but if it doesn't go in a week or so, I'd return it and buy a new one (not a display model)

burn-in, by definition is permanent

it's possible it could be very, very stubborn IR, which by definition is temporary (but could still take a long time to fully eliminate)

A great tool for IR is the pixel flipper found on the Disney WOW BD Disc. It's better than the screen wipe feature built into the TV. Slides are also good.

Run the pixel flipper on vivid for 24 hours and check before and after with d-nices color slides on standard picture mode. That will tell you if it will come out or not. Works for my IR all the time.

If you bought it from Best Buy there shouldn't be a battle over return.

Try it for about 24 hours.. if it's the store's feed it could be pretty tough to remove.

I doubt Best Buy will give you much of a hassle on a return though.

Do yourself a favor and cough up more money and buy a brand new set and get extended warranty just in case. It's still very affordable for S60's. I don't know how you could of missed it at the store before you purchased it, if it was a display model.

@randy, what's the recommended time interval to automatically switch to the next slide when doing this to get rid of IR? 20s or 30s or longer between picture slide?

Sony 32" EX400 calibrated settings
Panasonic 50" S60 calibrated settings
HTPC/Sony S5100 to Sony HT-CT660 to Panasonic 55" VT60, Sony 32" EX400, Panasonic 50" S60
