I have 2 plasmas, both pannys, a p50u50 in the bedroom and p60u50 in the home theater. I was thinking that i should sell them and get a 55inch vt60 for the living room. I already have a 4 grand sound system, pioneer reciever and ascend acoustics speakers with a rythmik sub. Would the vt60 be a massive improvement in quality? Id really like to know while i can snag one before they are all gone and out of production. My biggest concerns are what should i be asking for mine, and is the vt60 worth it? I would consider the st60, but as a gamer input lag is a concern.

Anyone? I have them listed on CL for 800 and 600. My rock bottom negotiation price would be 100 less.

I say go for it. with all the news of panny leaving plasma, and speculation that plasma in general is close to done development, chances are the vt60 will be about as good as plasma ever gets. so take a lesson from the kuro guys, and buy the best while you still can and enjoy it for the next decade until OLED get's ironed out and affordable.

Honestly I think you are way high. With the price of tvs these days I wouldn't think you'd be able to get much more than $300 for the 50" and $400 for the 60".

Yeah I was thinking of selling off my 50" S60 for $400 (cost me $699 + tax) and it's from 2013, so older models will probably sell for less.

Sony 32" EX400 calibrated settings
Panasonic 50" S60 calibrated settings
HTPC/Sony S5100 to Sony HT-CT660 to Panasonic 55" VT60, Sony 32" EX400, Panasonic 50" S60

i typically START prices at 50% retail, and go from there. if you can find a the tv selling for 700, 350 is the most i'd even think of paying for one used.

ppl don't know how you treated the tv, how used it is, and there's no returns. all these thins negative affect a tv's price.

all that being said, this is why i've never sold a tv. i use a 'rotation' instead. new tv goes in the theatre, tv that was in the theatre moves into another room that could use it, and then the tv that replaced can move, etc, etc, until the crappiest tv in the house gets tossed. for example, the reason i bought my new f8500 this year was because the CRT RPTV in the living room finally went. moved the old plasma from my theatre into the living room, f8500 in the theatre, and the rptv to the recyclers.

Last year I sold my Sharp Aquos D92 52" that I bough in 08 . It was the first 120htz LCD. It cost me 4k and I sold it for $700. It hurt but I wanted to make the switch to Plasma because although I loved the picture on the Aquos , it had motion blur when watching fast moving sports and it was developing a horizontal line. Other than that it looked better than some newer tv's. Saying that if you really want the last best breed of plasmas you either sell what you have now or just put it on a card because they are disappearing quick if you wait too long.

No way you getting the asking price for that tv. Is not like you are selling top of the line tv's they are the lowest class plasma from Panny

I say for the 60 ask for 480 and the 55 ask for 400

I sold my 65VT50 for 1600 on CL after I paid 2300 last year.

Basically you are going to almost always take a huge hit selling a TV second hand unless you get extremely lucky. 1) find the exact right buyer that trusts you and knows that the set is in good condition 2) something like the Pioneer Kuro situation where they were in super high demand for a long time

even then you don't come out ahead.

If I were you I would keep at least one of the TVs in question or wait to find a grew deal on a gently used VT60.

get the st60, if you want save money, they are still very good. VT60 is not worth extra premium over VT according to Cnet.

I was worried about the lag on the st60 though, as i play FPS games. As im going to have the TV untill something better can replace it, wouldnt it make sense to just spend the few extra hundred on the VT?

I'm with you. Price difference isn't that great now plus for me I have some ambient light to deal with so the better filter makes it an easier call too.

the light filter on my 2008 plasma was better than the current ST60, or is it just me? or panasonic put that feature on VT as compared to ST. i chose ST or VT based on Cnet recommendation, the price difference for me was almost $900 at best buy, i had to buy it there because i have $500 worth of gift cards, BB price match me the Club Panasonic Price for 60ST60. i do not game at all on this plasma, mostly Direct TV and Netflix. the PQ out of the box using Cnet setting is almost perfect for my condition, everyone who has looked at PQ is amazed how good it is.

yes, spend the extra money and KNOW that you got the best you could buy instead of always wondering how much better the vt might have been...

I recently ordered a 55VT60 for $1599 (no tax or shipping) + white glove delivery + $75 from Discover 5% cashback, hopefully it's leaps and bounds better than my 50S60. wink.gif

Haven't decided yet if I'm going to keep the 50S60 or sell it off for $400, already have a few buyers at that price.

Panasonic 50" S60 calibrated settings

Man let me know what you think when you get it, im looking to order the 60 inch tonight. Im sure your s60 was better then my u50. Although coming from a gt25 and st30 i think the u50 was actually pretty good despite bright room performance.

I have a G10 and an St30 and my VT60 is soooo much better it's crazy. A VT30 is way better than my ST and the owner wants to get a ZT now after seeing the 60.

I thought that the VT60 had the "better" black filter, but that it caused the picture to be a little dimmer than the ST60 (which has an inferior but still really good black filter)?

Ok i got a call from the salesman from east coast tv. They wanted to upgrade my shipping to white glove, they they take it out and inspect it and power it on. But not assemble it ( i realise its just the stand). That was 89. Another 69 for insurance and that 2% discount i got from using the discount code only works if you send a check or money order. So my total is now 150. I was at work and was very busy and couldnt think properly about what he was saying but i realise now i shouldnt have paid any of that because all of the things he sold me can be alleviated be me not signing. Ugh. What you guys think? Ill be paying 1950 total which i think is still a better deal then anywhere else for a 60 inch. And ive already been charged.

Paul's TV runs deals all the time for the 60" VT for $1799 (shipped). Greystoneappliance.com has it for $1839.00 (there are coupon codes for this site). I bought mine from greystone and there are no hidden fees. If you opt for the free shipping it does take 14-21 days but they are very clear about that. Paul's TV is an authorized dealer if that matters to you (probably not since you ordered from ECTV).
