I currently have a TC-P60ST30 in my living room that I purchased in 2011 and a now broken TH-58PZ800U in my bedroom that I purchased in 2008.

Unfortunately, the 5-year old TH-58PZ800U made a loud pop before immediately shutting off and producing a 4 blink code. After unplugging it and plugging it back in, there wasn't any blinking lights until I pressed the power button which resulted in a 2 blink code. I tried following the troubleshooting guide on Youtube.com using the compressed air to cool the two 15v chips but it still wouldn't turn on.

How much money, if any, would you spend on the TH-58PZ800U to repair it before putting the money towards a TC-P60ST60 or a TC-P60VT60?

How does the TH-58PZ800U and TC-P60ST30 compare with the newer models like the TC-P60ST60 and TC-P60ST60?

Thanks for the help!

Can't help about the repair but my VT60 is way better than my ST30. Much better blacks, color and sharpness. Contrast seems similar.

I just took delivery of an ST60. I say move the ST30 to the bedroom and buy a 65ST60 if it will fit the space. I'm trying to sell my 60GT50 so that I can get another ST60 for the den.

You may have a solution that doesn't cost a cent.

Had a 65ST30, and now have a 60VT60. The VT is an improvement, but I still thought the ST30 was a great performer for being a few years older.
