I purchased my Panasonic 65zt60 from best buy last week and it was delivered yesterday. I turned it on for about 10 minutes yesterday just to make sure it worked. I finally got it set up today and ran the setup menu to check the hours on the panel and it read 122 hours, turned on 6 times. Build date is October 2013.

Is this normal? Does Panasonic break these in from the factory? Should I return the TV to best buy and ask for another unit?

Thanks in advance,
Jason

I will say no. Go to viera menu-help-version-status4 and what does that number say.

Jason,

If you turned it on twice, you received it with 122 hours on it and with it having been turned on 4 times. That means the average on-time was about 30 hours. Doesn't appear to be done by a typical owner.

Was it sealed/unboxed when they brought it inside? That'd be concerning to me...I know slides are important to do and it sounds like a returned item to me, but I don't know for sure.

I will have to agree with merccrazy....I'm sure there is some quality control testing that happens at the factory but definitely not 122 hours worth!!!! Almost seems as if someone had started breaking in the panel & was not happy with results after 100+ hours panel break-in & decided to return the unit....

just my 2 cents...

Over the past 8 years, I have bought 11 10 plasmas from Best Buy. All boxes had been opened by the delivery guys before they loaded them onto the truck. They check the screens on the units visually so they are not charged for breaking one during delivery.

Also says 122, which is why I also checked it the other way. I couldn't believe 122 hrs.

It appeared to be brand new. All the bags were still sealed and the stand hadn't been removed from the packaging or anything.

I think I'm going to call panasonic tomorrow and have a little chat.

They must have liked the look of the unit so much that they decided to watch it for a few days too...
