Has anyone heard of this model at Costco? There's a thread on slickdeals about the sale at BJ's and some mentioned it. There was a response that it wasn't even on the website, etc...so the original poster responded back with the item number of 851530 and said it's called the 5350A and that "A" was for an anti-reflective coating. I'm wondering about the coating....the BJ's model was said to have one as well, but it does not.

It's a long thread, informative but not all that conclusive.

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1493958/samsung-f5350-series-f5350-vs-s60

From personal experience: I passed on a slightly used (3 months) S60 50" @ $600 in favor of a brand new PN51F5300 @ $500. I don't regret my decision at all. The S60 belonged to an acquaintance so I had ample opportunity to preview it. I'm no AV expert, but to my eyes the PQ of the two models is roughly equivalent. If the Samsung had been inferior, I would have returned it and picked up my friend's S60. My 5300 is all dialed in now and the picture just seems to get better every day. I watched the Duke-Cuse game on it today and it was beautiful, man, just beautiful. *sniff*

This question is largely irrelevant, since the S60 is no longer available.

@stereomandan

thx for sharing your calibration settings, this tv is realy a bargain. best picture quality i have seen so far.

only the flicker annoys me a lot.after some hours of watching bluray and playing some game i´ve got massive eyestrain. maybe i am too sensitive to plasmaflicker, has anybody the same problems ?

some pics with your settings, i have only added some sharpness - maybe a tad too much ;)

I got this plasma a few weeks back and love the picture.  The problem I have is the reflective screen.   The tv is in an open family room with the kitchen behind and all the lights there reflect.

I am thinking I have two options.   Return the tv and find an LCD I like, which I think is going to be hard.

Or use some type of anti-glare screen cover.   Is anyone using a screen cover with this plasma and have a recommendation?

Any ideas appreciated!

Some people are sensitive to it, but just a relatively small minority. Unfortunately you are one of those.

In researching which television to buy, I read through this thread. Now I have to reread it to see what I need to do in setting up the new 51F5300 I bought today. I went to a Best Buy to purchase an open box model that they guaranteed would be there when I made my hour-long trip. When I got there, they couldn't find it and graciously sold me a new one at the agreed-upon open box price.

I'm putting off till in the morning to set it up, not wanting to get involved in it tonight because I've got a seven-year old Pioneer sound system I want to use with it and am afraid that it will take a while.

I appreciate all the contributions to this thread. If all goes well, the 51F5300 should be a nice improvement over our old 25" Samsung CRT. :)

Glad to help!

That's a major bummer about the eye strain! Sounds like you are one of those unlucky enough to be bothered by it. I hadn't even heard of eye strain with plasma until you mentioned it to be honest.

Thanks for sharing the pics! Looks great!

i also just bought a 60f5350 cosco version of the f5300 . i needed a 60" or larger and i knew with panasonic leaving plasma behind i knew i had little choices. so i pick samsung . . and i use your calibrtion settings. the whites are more yellow then whites based on what you suggested. i want to know the actual response time this plasma takes ? i havnt tried ps3 or xbox because i still am in the break in period .

going to pick up one of these to replace our current Samsung PN42C450 (moving that to our bedroom) and was wondering if someone would be kind enough to post the dimensions of THE BOX the 51" comes in. Need to see if it'll fit in our 2004 Santa Fe or if I need to borrow my dad's minivan.

I have my blu ray player set to output 24p, and I can't tell any difference with cinema smooth turned on or off.

I have OTA and sometimes get Weak or no Signal for 3-5 seconds and goes right back to normal even though it's great reception on the channel with no break ups. I get this everyday. Anyone get this too?

Does this occur several times a day? I don't see how it could be the TV, but maybe I'm just hoping. I'm planning to go OTA with ours.

Not sure what it can be it's been happening for awhile. The TV looks great though. I'm really happy with it. maybe the signal is not enough with my antenna, but I doubt it, it's a good one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002TIELEM/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Today I tried something because I live near the train and when it passes by it breaks up the picture I tried everything moved the antenna every which way and still was getting it. I put a black heavy plastic bag over the antenna and so far no break ups when the train passes. Fingers crossed. Hoipe this helps people.

I have the DVE calibration disc and I used it, however after doing so if I turn on the built in TV test pattern the calibration would be a little different. Primary use for the TV is watching DirecTV. Which should I calibrate to? The DVE disc or the built in pattern?

HD. Used the original settings which got the colors close, but then wanted to get them in line for this set.
