Looking to get a nice 42" Plasma for bedroom, and I know these are discontinued... but is there a place with old stock to find these?

Also, I assume 42ST60 never made it to North America, right? and it was only EU product? Which sucks as that would have been awesome...

Now, IF there's no chance to find one of these old ones, what's a comparable 42-43" Smart TV for bedroom?

I saw some of those being sold in Canada, but it was extremely rare even up here. It surely was a limited run.

There is no comparable TV in the sub-50" size regardless of price. The 42" ST60 was never offered in NA.

The 43" Samsung, although being only 768p, actually looks pretty good. The Panasonic 42PX60 however looks not so good,

Thanks, I'd call around to see what I can find. Futureshop, Best Buy got none, so have to see what else is available.

You will probably not get any. I missed very last S60 from many of my local Bestbuys in Toronto and that was November.

I guess you don't agree with Chad B's review.

So, if not 42S60, which other under 50" Smart TV would be best?

Sorry to disappoint, but I've been looking for a 42S60 for the last 4 months, with no success, whatsoever. Ads on Cragslist, everything. I've contemplated taking a trip to Europe to get a 42" ST or GT, but seems like too much effort, lol.

Maybe, if you're the luckiest man to walk the earth, you'll find one from here:

http://www.searsoutlet.com/42-Class-1080p-600Hz-Plasma-Smart-HDTV-TC-P42S60/d/product_details.jsp?stxt=panasonic%20s60&md=srh_md&pn=1&ps=24&pid=112871&cid=892&mode=buyUsedOnly&itemSelectionType=all

They're from Sears Outlet, so they're used or floor models, but I doubt you'll have that much success. Good luck with the worst known customer service in the Milky Way Galaxy.

I'm looking for a 50", you can find a new one on Ebay for a highly inflated price:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-Smart-Viera-TC-P50S60-50-1080p-HD-Plasma-Internet-TV-TCP50S60-NEW-/331126844976?pt=Televisions&hash=item4d18b2ae30

Alternatively, you can get a Best Buy Open Box (what I'm leaning towards):

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olstemplatemapper.jsp?id=pcat16010&type=page&skuId=8130126&ld=40.708526611328125&lg=-74.00324249267578&rd=200&dt=ob

For a S60 substitute, there really aren't any. However, Samsung's plasma F5500 comes somewhat close, but they don't come in 42".

Maybe, maybe, MAYBE you'll find the new 2014 Vizio M-series (starts at 39", I think) or P-series (starts at 50") adequate, but plasma is, IMO, the way to go.

I get how it feels to want a high-quality SMALL TV, as opposed to having to get a jumbo-sized, living room 65 incher. Good luck in your search.

The Samsung 43 inch 4500 was a decent set if you are viewing from 9-10 feet away but I returned mine when I found an open box 50ST60.

Living room: Sony 60NX720, Yamaha RX-V673, NHT Super One/Zero w/Ten Sub, Panasonic BDT230.
Current Man Cave: Samsung PN51F8500, Vizio S4251w-B4, Sony BDP-S5100, Darbee Darblet.
Future Man Cave: Sony VPL-HW40ES, Monoprice 106" Multi-Format Fixed Frame (Never again!).
Displays calibrated with HCFR, i1DisplayPro, and Colormunki Photo.

Yea, that's the price, the problem is that all of the ones left are floor models- thus many hours of functioning..., or so I have been told. The one I found still had the wrapping around the screen. aka. not used.
Given that this is arguably the best 42 inch tv that has ever been offered in Canada (europe had the higher end series) and the last of the plasmas, I am really stocked.

Good for you! I will pick one up too... it's such a sad day, it really makes me pissed, basically marketing, flashy features are winning over quality and specially picture quality. I was at a few showrooms and literally was about to PUKE all over the new LED, OLED, 4K and curve picture qualities, they're SO CRAP, have incredible shiny and reflective screen and are just terrible all around and some were priced $7K! Are you kidding me???

I am really inclined to just go find one of the latest Panasonic 55-60" and buy and keep one for future. My Elite Plasma is still working great, but I am afraid in 1-2yrs, if it dies, WHAT DO TO THEN? frown.gif

My local Shop Rite super market sells flat panel TV's, but they are cheap smaller screens which are crap. I have a problem picturing a Panasonic TV, like my S60 on display in a Drugstore. If I saw one at Rite-Aid or Walgreens, I'd probably go into shock! tongue.gif

Amazon recently had one listed from a dealer in Ohio NIB. The price was originally $1,800, then dropped to $800. I was about to bite when it sold a few hours before even though I felt I was overpaying. Sears sold these on sale for $400 and MSRP was $729 which I never pay. Magically one shows up 6 days later from a dealer in wash. for $2,000. Figure the odds a set that hasn't been readily available since the fall of 2013 showing up 6 days later in another state. That time period should just about cover shipping!! Nothing I hate more than some jacka$$ buying a product just to resell and consumer price gouge!! Dealer also states it is a May 2013 build. If it truly is a NIB factory sealed how would he know this? I own a 65VT60 which I paid $2,700 for back in June 2013 and still have the box. The serial number of the set is no where on the outside of the box just model number and shipping data.

For $2,000 no thanks that is a ridiculous price. Five days ago Frys had the LG EC9300 55in. for $1,500 in store with promo code. Walmart has the 2015 4K M series 43 in. for $600.

I found a used one for $350 a few days ago on E-bay, but it was 950 miles away and local pickup only. I did look for one last spring but they were no where to be found. Settled on a Samsung PN43F4500 for $300. 768 x 1024, but it does have an extensive picture adjustments and a 10 point white balance. But for the right price I would love to find a 42S60.

I will bet money it is the same set from the Ohio dealer and 6 days later he received it and is trying to turn a profit. I would have no issue if someone bought the set for $800 and is currently enjoying it! Buying to rape consumers is BS, I want the set, but I wouldn't touch it for 1/2 that price. $1,800 is his current craigslist price that posted April 18, the Ohio dealer sold his on the 12th.

nice!

I had a humorous exchange with this rocket scientist selling the set on amazon out of Washington state. Apparently he bought 2 TC-P42S60's in Sept. 2013 from Sears. He sold 1 of them a few days ago on craigslist for $1600 lol. Brand new in the box by, the way both are. He bought 2 sets for different rooms and life challenges happened, so I guess he never opened either one for 18 months after purchase and is selling them now. The other set is set $400 more expensive on amazon due to real world shipping costs, at that moment I knew he just again went full ******. This set with the 50lb. wt. and 28 x 48 x 10in. dimensions can be shipped from Wash. state to southern Florida for $70 with the Amazon UPS sellers discount. Also he knows the manufacture date because he called customer service and they told him it was Mar. 2013 even though no one knows the serial number of either TV because they are new and factory sealed, I guess all TC-P42S60's were made in March lol or once again this guy is just full of $h!+ in every sense of the word. Lastly he seems to think his Panasonic S series is a Pioneer Kuro and no current tv has surpassed kuro technology from major reviewers like cnet meaning OLEDs have some work to do surpass Kuro tech. Great stuff lol! I have asked for a photocopy of his receipt from Sears for proof! Which will never happen.

I have a 42S60 I am trying to sell. It is located near Boston, I left it with my parents. I've used it a bit but moved to Los Angeles. It's in great shape with little use. I upgraded to the ST60, which I find has slightly less buzz and less dithering noise, though both a step down from the 11 series, though with perhaps deeper black levels.

Still a ridiculously good tv for the price.

Will take any reasonable offer. Need cash for rent.
