I bought a 60" 5300 to replace my old 50" Panasonic plasma. I really like it but it could be a little brighter and less reflective. I saw that Abt and Amazon both have the new H5000 and it's supposed to have the Ultra Clear panel like the 8500 -- which should be a little brighter and less reflective. Should I return the 5300 and get the 5000? Tomorrow is the last day to return to Best Buy. Hoping for some advice from fellow plasma people. Thanks.

The Ultra Clear panel is a misnomer. It's not a panel type, it's just a filter. So, while it will reduce reflections, it won't give you extra brightness. Only the F8500's panel itself can do that.

Considering the H5000 has the Real Black Pro panel it should have a significant better picture quality.

i disagree with bonnie. the h5000 is being deem as a better anti reflective that it not better picture quality.

To the Op only you know if you will benefit from a more expensive unit , personally if theirs no buyers remorse i'd be happy as it is although the f8500 seems to fit the bell if you want brighter and less reflective.

Thanks, all. I decided to keep the 5300. It's a great screen for the money and I can use it in my basement when the H7000 comes out. Either that or save up for OLED.

Amazon is listing the H5000 as 3D and smart. Is that correct?

...Must be a typo. Didn't the Samsung representative actually said something in the line of "We asked our customers what they want in an affordable television and they answered no frills at a cheaper price, and we listened."

I thought it had none of that and also does not list it on Samsung's site.

I will tell you if I ordered from Amazon and it did not have smart features or 3D I would not be a happy camper. Wonder how long it takes for them to fix it. At that price with smart features and 3D would make it truly a steal of a deal.

I don't know who Samsung asked but having Netflix built into the TV is way more convenient then having to power on other devices just to use that.

3d is a failed my dad has it on the s60/64 65inch . And when i visit him i turn off 3d mode for a better pq of 2d. and
i rather have bigger size (70 - 80 ) over the convenience of having apps like nextflix built in . or i rather have a better processor or more R & d on IR. bottom line theirs more important factors to consider besides widget apps.

You seriously think that Samsung is doing more R&D on their plasma line. They are just re-bundling what they have from 2013 line in different packages. So whether the TV has a smart hub or not you will still be getting their 2013 technology.

As for 3D, I personally don't use it but I am pretty sure your dad's S64 does not have 3D. Not sure what you mean by turning off 3D mode.
