I've had the 60PB6650 for about a month now and love it with one exception. I'm having lip sync issues that didn't used to exist with previous set that was a DLP and all the other equipment in the setup is exactly the same. The connections go from the source devices (i.e. Dish Receiver & Panny BluRay) to the Yamaha 863 receiver and then from the Yamaha receiver out to the TV. The TV is set for external speakers. I've tried using the Lip Sync feature on the LG but it doesn't have any impact (nor did I expect it to with the way I have it connected).

What's really driving me nuts is that the results aren't even consistent from each source. For example I was playing a concert BR recently and the lip sync was VERY evident (audio ahead of the video). Then I put in The Godfather and it's spot on. No lip sync. How is that possible? I could use the lip sync delay from the receiver but since the delay is sometimes there and other times not I'll have to play with setting the delay each and every time I watch TV. Not very ideal.

If anyone else has had lip sync issues (I've searched the thread unless I missed something) I'd be very interested to understand how to remedy.

I did and another member did as well. There should be a setting on your Yamaha receiver to have it do the syncing. That should remedy it. If it is a mid to high end receiver, you might be able to set the sync by source.

Try turning on gaming mode to see if it helps. I had issues with lipsync watching blu-ray/dvd's and turning on gaming mode sorted it out. I don't notice a difference in image quality with it on.

It is possible the differing delay times is due to the differing complexity of scenes. A concert video is much more likely to have noise and random bright lights, whereas a movie like the Godfather would not.

Will LG produce plasma TVs in 2015? What is the line on when LG will produce the last new plasma on planet Earth?

From what I can tell, the update comes on the SmartTV platform. I noticed the splash screen was different. I am assuming some of the apps were updated as well. I haven't had a chance to go through all of them.

60pb6650

just purchased a 60PB6650 from Microcenter for less than $600 list.

Don't know what to think of it yet to be honest, only had it for 3 days.
The wife is happy since it's the replacement for a Sony 60-XBR1 - she says it takes up less room and has less wires, etc....lol.

I guess I got used to low reflection and the bright pic of the XBR1 because Im not that happy with the reflective screen of the LG, or the more muted color.

Maybe I'll get used to it? Hard not to at that price. I did calibrate it with a Disney WOW, but still doesn't seem 'crisp' enough.

It may take some time. The XBR1 is a very bright tv and the LG plasma is not. Dark room viewing is the bees knees though. Give it a couple of days. You will not be disappointed!

I'm not sure if it was switching to using a slightly better than junk HDMI cable or the 4.01. firmware, but one of those two fixed my intermittent ARC issues that have been driving me crazy. I have a 60pb6600 and yamaha 677 receiver.

Really enjoying my 60PB6600 for the month that I've owned it so far. However, I couldn't find any information on whether the TV supports 2:2 pulldown for 24p sources over DLNA, Netflix, or Amazon streaming. It appears that it does not, since the "Real Cinema" option is grayed out for these sources. I've found that Real Cinema is enabled for 24p videos played over USB, which is a viable alternative if you're willing to go through the extra step of copying your videos to a USB drive. But it would be really convenient if the TV could support 2:2 pulldown over streaming sources. Anyone else encounter this issue?

Frys has the PB6900 again on sale over the weekend, this time for $677. Not sure if that is online as well. Saw it in the weekend ad.

Try Sharons settings on page 19. They seems to be the consensus best if you are not going to calibrate.

I find the price on the LG 6650/6900 very tempting. I have a 7 year old Samsung LED- DLP tv which while still working has had some problems so I am looking for a new tv. I have never owned a plasma tv. My concern is the brightness of a plasma. The room I will put it in has blinds so there is not a lot of light coming into the room. I also watch most of my tv between 6:00pm and 12:00pm. However, I feel the tv I have is bright which I like. In the settings owners of this set suggested turning off the DNIe control, but I left it on since it made the picture a little brighter. For the same reason I never used the movie mode. I rarely go to a movie theater, but when I do I feel that most of the indoor scenes are too dark. So my question is will I be happy with this LG tv?

Thanks,
John

I just picked this up at my local (1 hour away) Fry's. Great deal. I was holding out for a deal like this. I was actually expecting to get the PB6650 if it ever popped up at $599 again (Micro Center had it for that price but now out of stock) but the PB6900 at $677 is even better IMHO. I don't know if I'll use the 3D much but I thought it was worth getting it for that price.

Fry's also has the PB6650 for $699, which they accidentally gave me when I went to pick up my TV. Luckily I caught the error before paying.

I have a LG 60pb6900.

I am having an issue with something trying to pair with my TV every hour on the dot. The popup is very annoying.

I have Soft AP, Wifi direct, and miracast set to off.

I don't want to pair anything to my TV. Is there some other way to stop this without pulling the ethernet cable out after I am done watching netflix? Is there some program I can run on my computer that will let me know which device is trying to connect?

Here are the steps how to set-up ARC

1. On the remote, push Simplink button to get to the Simplink menu.
2. turn Simplink ON
3. then set the sound to External (ARC)
4. exit the Simplink menu

5. then push Setting button to get to the settings menu
6. select Audio
7. change the sound output to External

now you will be able to hear the sound come out of your receiver and also be able to turn the volume up/down or turn the receiver on/off using only the TV remote.

Here are my current setting on a newly acquired 60PB6600 based on other posts here. Still in break-in period and playing with the settings so feedback or other setting sets are appreciated.

For hdtv (1080i and 720p content via component) found that Black Level set at Low is too dark and results in a lack of definition. But for bluray (1080p via hdmi) viewing its fine.

Does anyone happen to know the response time for the 60PB6650? I'm just trying to get a grasp of the gaming lag that will be associated with this Plasma.

between 50-60ms, depending on the set and if it is in gaming mode. There are better options for gaming if that is what you are going to do majority of the time.

I recently purchsed the 60PB5600 in store from Walmart for $648. From all the info I have found it seems to be the same tv as the 6600/6650 without the smart feature and a few less inputs and connectivity. The funny thing is Walmart took them off the floor last week, but is still selling them if you ask.

Picture out of the box was pretty impressive. Still fooling around with it - but so far blue rays from PS3 (HDMI) are pretty amazing and HD (1080i) content from local cable company (component) is also excellent. Netflix HD streaming has some judder on fast panning shots, but i understand that might be more a netflix thing than the tv. Speakers are actually very decent sounding as well.

All in all, I dont think the value can be beat for any tv in this series. Too bad they don't make a 64" - I would have gladly paid $300 more for a 64"...

two sports modes or games modes??

Hey guys, new to the forums here, hoping someone might be able to help. I noticed that i have a sport AV MODE and a sport PICTURE SETTING mode. same thing for game. Wondering if someone can explain the difference to me and what i should be using. Just for watching regular tv connected by hdmi to a set top satellite box. Whenever i turn the tv on it gives me a green button saying sport mode has been deactivated. Can anyone help please??

Also, notice when watching sports it has some flickering almost like LED tvs do, tru motion and everything else is off. Like the picture is stuttering. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance everyone!!

The sport picture setting changes the contrast and brightness, usually upping greens. It does not look good. The sport Av mode is even worse. Extremely green and terrible looking. It is a carry over from LCD. Don't change it. The juddet can't really say. Try a different HDMI cable. What service and box do you have? I think there is a known issue with an ATT box.

How long did it take everyone to receive their free year of Netflix? I just submitted mine, couldn't find the 60PB6600 so I just did the 60LB6500 or something. Hopefully it works!

Takes between 3-5 days for the e-mail with the code to show up.

I ordered a 60PB6650 from a deal that Dell had a couple of weeks ago. It arrived with a cracked screen. I was heartbroken! Dell made good on it though (sorta). They offered to replace it but they didn't have any 6650's in stock, just the 6600. Since the only difference (I think) is the built-in wireless, I went for it.

I received it and installed it on the wall last night. This set is replacing another LG 60PC1D (2007 vintage) that has a failed Z-SUS board. Long story, and I'm still working on that set but for the price, I couldn't resist just replacing it.

I use settings that someone else referred to on page 19 of this thread.

This set looks great. It's better than the LG 60" plasma that it's replacing. I couldn't be happier.

Some people have mentioned the black level - it is indeed a bit high. This is a bedroom TV and we only watch it at night with all the lights off so black level is noticeable. It's by no means distracting or a deal breaker though. I'll get out one of my calibration disks and see how low I can get the brightness before crushing the image. From the looks of things, there will still be a good deal of light there for black, but it's not bad. I've never owned an LCD panel but wonder if one of them could do this well.

Thanks for all the good info in this thread.

Cary
