Hey guys,

So my beloved 65" s64 is officially beyond repair, repair guys said it needed a new panel, which is more than cost of TV. And then some.

I got a full refund, but as we know there isn't really anything else out there from panasoic. Only think I can find comprable is the samsung 5300 or the h5000.

So if the h5000 wasn't pentile this would be an easy choice, but these things are never easy!

Questions/comments

I went and saw the 5300 at best buy, and they had 51 and 60 next to each other, and I know the 60" is pentile and 51" is not. Up close I could see difference, but few steps back they looked similar. Hard to tell in store, also as they both looked horrible as most plasmas do in store.

Anyone have experience with a pentile with gaming? This will be a huge factor if a pentile display effects video games.

Anyone seen the h5000 in comparison to the 5300?

Anyone know a store that carries the h5000?

Lastly, any other sets it should be looking at? (In the $1500 price range)

Thanks for any help!

I just got the h5000 kind of bought in blindly since no stores have it. Like I thought though, the people who said pentile is the worst thing ever were wrong you can't tell more than 6 inches away. I am coming from a 55 inch top of the line 55 inch samsung 3d led that has since been moved to the bedroom. Still getting use to the new tv so can't give a great review but so far an incredible bargain.

Black level over pentile, that's what I would say, and the black level improvement over the F5500 is significant enough to let the pentile factor slide. If you loved black levels from your S60, chances are, the H5000 is going to have black level at least equal to the S60 if not better. The S60 certainly give the F5500 a decent trouncing.

Agreed, I think I'm gonna go with the h5000, unless I go with a bigger 70" LED. Im trying to find up out if 240 will be ok for gaming, or if I need a plasma.

Anyone game of the h5000?

I have not gamed yet but here are some screen shots from a movie with black bars at night on the H5000. I know pictures can't really show how good or bad a tv is but I figured I would post anyways, these are taken from my iPhone. The tv doesn't look as good during the day but if you bump up the brightness it still looks good. You can see from these pics you can't really see the black bars at the top or bottom. I used to cringe at the thought of movies at night with black bars but now its my favorite thing to watch on this tv.

So I've got a h5000 on the way! Should be here Tuesday. I'll post opinions vs the S60 when I get it.

I was going to go LED but there seems to be an issue with almost every set. Big thing was input lag, and I do a lot of gaming. Also, they are super expensive for what you get.

Really hoping pentile doesn't bother me. I'll be about 10ft away.
