Pn64f8500 remote problem

Hi , I got samsung plasma pn64f8500 today and it does not respond to both remotes it came with , I able to control it from tv itself only. called samsung and they said they gonna send me new remote. Doesn't make sense to me . It does not react to any of my universal remotes. Is there a way to reset tv , maybe? . gonna call samsung today . Just wondering if someone had this problem in a past . Hate to think it might be hardware problem .

assuming you haven't blocked the ir receiver on the tv in any way?

the 'fancy' remote needs to be sync'd to work correctly I believe, but that wouldn't explain why the other doesn't work, or your universal remotes. so to me it sounds like the tv is the issue, not the remotes.

Displays: Samsung PN64F8500/JVC X35
AVR: Pioneer VSX-1018AH, 5.1 audio
Sources: HTPC(Mediabrowser), PS3, XBOX360, Wii, Sony DVP-CX995V
Control: Harmony One

Sounds like an issue with the ir sensor on tv. I never paired up my standard remote. I just put the batteries in and turned the tv on. Worked ever since. Same with my universal remote. Try resetting your tv if the instructions from previous poster does not work. Also try completely unplugging tv by turning tv off, and removing power cord from back of tv. Wait a minute and plug back in, then try it.

One way to reset without remote is to use toggle in back, go to menu, support, diagnosis and reset.
