Opinions on Samsung 43" 720p Plasma TV Model PN43F4500BFXZA ?

Hey everyone!

Anyone have any opinions on, or experience with the Samsung Plasma TV Model PN43F4500BFXZA ?

I am in the market for a budget TV. 300-500USD Range. I just saw that the Samsung 43" 720p Plasma TV Model PN43F4500BFXZA is on sale for 299.99. I do love the deep blacks of a plasma and the motion rendering on those panels is fantastic. I am a little worried about 720p. I do have a completely dark and light controlled viewing environment. I'm viewing dead on at a distance of about 6-7 feet. I think this guy would fit the bill for what I am looking for, but would love everyones opinions!

$300 for a 720p plasma is a good deal. If you were getting a larger screen, 50 inches or larger, then 1080p would have a greater visual impact. Since you are going to sit 6 to 7 feet away, and the tv is a 43 inch model, I think you will be fine with a 720p. I remember my first HDTV. A Samsung 720p DLP. The image was great.

720p on a 43" at 6-7 ft may not be optimal as at those viewing distances, you would be able to see a visual difference with a 1080p screen.

I've owned a 720p 42" that I viewed at ~ 10ft and that looked great. That being said, a 720p panel will still work at your viewing distances. It's just that you could get a crisper picture and see a noticeable difference if you had a 1080p panel.

If you're patient, you might be able to find a deal for the PN51F5300 for around $500. But $300 for this TV also isn't a bad deal. I'd go with a larger TV as the 51" at your viewing distances would look fantastic.

I just picked up that same model for gaming in my bedroom. I own top of the line Sammy and panny plasmas as well. I have to say I am very very impressed with this little set. I've broke it in with Xbox music visualization for 400 hours and calibrated with Disney WoW. This TV is bright. It's contrast far exceeds the "ideal white" that is available on the WOW blu ray. From 5'+ you will not tell the difference from 1080p and 720p on a 43" TV.

I bought a 42" Vizio M series for $500 and exchanged it for this set. To me, the plasma looks better. It was a good trade.

Seriously, unless you are sitting 2 feet away, don't worry about it being 720p. I was worried about this as well but am so glad I ended up with the Sammy. Pull the trigger and get one before they are gone forever. You won't find a better value anywhere.
